2016 26rr ac

My AC has not blown cold for a long time. Today we had a look and here is what we know:
* When the AC is turned on the compressor runs
* the two small pipes get frosty very quickly and a small part of the pipes through the vanes but the rest stays at air temp (see photo)
* the pipe into the vanes at the back of the unit gets hot.
But the air into the RV is not cold, nor cooler than the ambient air.
Suggestions please.

Typically when they freeze up, it is low airflow over the coils or low on freon. Make sure air is moving across the coils and that they are clean. If that checks out, then you are probably low on freon. I think they have a 2 year warranty, so maybe a trip to the dealer is in store. If not, then these units typically don't have service ports so that you can add freon (I have read about units being low from the factory). I have heard that some service places will add ports, so maybe that is an option if it is out of warranty.

Here is a thread about this same thing....it covers some other items as well:

Mxdad,
Thanks. I believe I have the same problem as many on that topic. I have sent an email to my dealer in Michigan. Unfortunately I am in Florida. I don't want to have to use some of the dealers down here if I can help it. I will post when they contact me or I call them.

Go to Domatic site and they will give you a list of repair facilities. If you go thu them they approve independent repair facilities. Plus it may be less hassle through them then dealing with grey wolf(FR) warranty dept. I am thinking of taking mine in because it is very loud.

I sent an email today to my dealer thinking they would deal with it when they open on Tuesday. Got a reply this evening (a Sunday of a long weekend!)
That's good service. They want some info for their service dept. I suggested they or I may need to contact Dometic directly as you suggested.
Thanks.

I'm on my 3rd AC unit and it seems to finally be a good one. The first two both leaked out refrigerant.

If you contact Dometic directly, I used this email address:

customersupportcenter@dometicusa.com

I was fortunate in that a local mobile RV service company is an authorized service provider for Dometic, so it went pretty smooth.

I'm very lucky - my extremely good RV dealership is helping me get on the right track with replacing this unit. If I can't get it done here in Florida under warranty it can be done back in Michigan when I return.
Some dealers do the right thing by their customers.
Thanks to all on this forum for their wisdom.

It was replaced last week in very quick time by my dealer and when the weather gets warmer I will give it a proper test but it seems to be working.

Update: gave it a short test yesterday and it pulled the temp inside down from 80 to the set 74 pretty well and turned off as expected. I still think the rig is too big for 1 x 13.5 unit, but it is what it is.

You can add a small DH machine will lower humidity and comfort factor. Much less costly than a larger or 2nd AC.

I think it's Dehumidifier.

DH on a RV forum means Dear Husband.

Is the DW/DH an old-folks thing? I never heard that before, let alone the need to say that every time you refer to him/her.

Kind of weird...

Nope, very common in the 7 RV forums I belong to.
There are stickies that list various acronyms used in the forums.
