26rr weight distribution hitch

So all you guys with the 26rr toy hauler... I see it has a tongue weight of 750 lbs. Assuming I have 200 lbs in my trunk of my suv that brings it to 950 and if I load a 900lb motorcycle in the back of camper with only about 100 lbs in front of rear axle then I'm at 1050lbs tongue weight. Am I assuming all this right and what tongue weight hitches are yall using? Also are you running dual friction stabilizer bars? Thanks in advance.

D, the 200# in the trunk doesn't to TW. It adds to TV weight. The 900# MC will actually lighten the TW; how much depends on the bikes center of balance (end to end) with relationship to the center of the axle pair. If you can tell me what these dimensions are, I can tell you how much less your TW would be (estimated). A 900# bike in my garage takes 270# off the tongue... your's will probably be less. Also as you load things between the tongue and axles, that weight is split between tongue and axles by a percentage depending how far forward the weight is.

If I want to increase the TW , ratio I add water to the fresh water tank and/or add heavier things up front.

Thanks for the reply. I was always told that anything stored behind the rear axle of the TV added to tongue weight...

Agree with WolfWhistle and remember; the distribution hitch is to transfer the tongue weight to all axels involved on the trailer and tow vehicle. The friction stabilizer; my unit came with the Lippert Strap tech which is supposed to aid sway control, I'm not impressed. I plan to change the system but it will take some cut, grind and paint. The brackets of the system are welded and will interfere with the chain binds and stabilizer mount ball.

I see NO way the (Lippert Strap Teck) aids in Sway Control! It is just a Strap that replaces the Chain! They make them in Bolt or Weld on type. They are a Scam! Youroo!!

I thought the same when I purchased the trailer, but it was welded so I gave it a shot. Their on line video even states it helps control sway. Other interesting note is my dealer did not even know what it was, I researched it myself.

BTW, my "dry" tongue weight is 1280# and I use a Reese dual-cam. Once I learned the setup it works well.

With my 900 lb bike and HF chock at 153 inches my tongue weight was 1290. I moved it back to 135 inches to lighten the load. Haven't weighed it yet but hoping for 1000.

Which weight distribution hitch are you using? And what's the tongue weight rating on it

Weight distribution systems are designed to put some of the tongue weight on the front axle of the tow vehicle. They push the front of the tow vehicle down, increasing stability, control and breaking.
I ended up getting the Andersen Hitches system, found out about it on this forum.
Finally got a chance to use it last weekend and it works great! I had used the Reese spring bar system in the past, they work but the bounce and noise is annoying. This system eliminates that, plus it has built in anti-sway. Great system, they finally built a better mouse trap...

135 " to forward most part of chock. I am using a no name equalizer made in China. Came with my first toy hauler.I have a friction sway bar but with the 3/4 ton Silverado have had no reason to use it. The 26RR pulls like a dream compared to the WP22 I had earlier.

I'm looking at the equalizer with a 1200lb tongue weight capacity. I'm also going to invest in a tongue weight scale so I can precisely load the trailer the correct way. When you got your whole rig weighed was it pretty accurate to the 5000lb rating the manufacture says?

1200 is light. With any water in grey or black tank will easily surpass that. I did not weigh it empty but with no water, 900 ' bike, full propane, and equipment I will always carry less clothes, food etc I came in a 6990, 1250 of that was tongue weight. That is why I moved the bike back. Weight should be in the 700 to 1000 range.

If you get the true Equalizer hitch you will be needing to have chains moved because the metal of hitch protrudes back so much that with sharp turns the chains will pinch. Click image for larger version

I checked mine after seeing post. I have the EAZ-lite hitch with the round bars, there is no need to move the chain. Just for thought

Yes it is only the equalizer brand. My brother has a non equalizer brand WDH and do not have an issue. His is more of a y configuration were the equalizer is more of an oblong shape.

If your goal is to achieve 700-1000 lb tongue weight than 1200lb hitch would be ideal, no?

I've heard the andersen system doesn't distribute enough weight to the front axle of TV
