For now we'll be hauling a motorcycle, but have discussed going 4 wheeling in the future.

We are new to the travel trailer/toy hauler scene, so I'm also wondering what other immediate costs should I be aware of for extra things we'll need to purchase? For example, do we need a sewer hose, specific chemicals for the toilet etc? There's a lot of really good information on here, and I really appreciate any advice.

Thanks!
When we upgraded from a pop up to a travel trailer 2 years ago, Amazon was making deliveries to our house regularly. Just off the top of my head without getting anything you would personally like..just what you would need to be comfortable on a site somewhere....

2 25' Water hoses (white)
water pressure regulator with 90 degree and 45 degree fittings

Spitter and Garden hose

Leveling Blocks (Home made or stackable lego type)
Wheel Chocks
X-chocks for stability (Home made or purchased)

20 ft expandable sewer hose and adapters for different conditions
Tablets or liquid for Black water tank

Bottle Jack
Lug Wrench
Fire Extinguisher

25 ft 30 Amp extension cord (I've used mine twice in 14 trips and was glad I had it)

Then you add things like awning mats, foldable tables, chairs grills, fuses, extensions cords for cooking outside plus all the stuff to cook and clean. I bet before we took our first trip, I spent somewhere in the $500 range on new stuff, and we had quite a bit of stuff from previous camping adventures and old kitchen stuff.

Thanks for the advice! So we've decided we are going with the 27rr! Super excited! Two additional questions came up. First is about the anti sway weight dist hitch. The dealer said the one they use is $650 installed. Doesnt sound too bad with having it installed before i take the camper home so that would be nice. He said the brand but i was driving so i couldnt write it down but said its like the reese. Is there anything is should look out for or be aware of in regards to the hitch? Im pulling with a chevy avalanche half ton. So when the trailer is fully loaded we might be getting close to the towing limits. My other question is about purchasing an extended warranty. If we bought it we would go with tbe 7 yr warranty. Has anyone needed to use an extended warranty or wished they had one?

Thanks!

I have a Tundra towing a 26rr and have the Equalizer brand hitch. It works very well and in the several thousand miles so far it has performed very well.

I haven't picked my 27RR up yet, but I am having him install an Equalizer WDH when I get there. Got it for $450 installed.

I got the 27rr I also got the equalizer wdh. You will have to readjust it once you get home and load tt. It is easy though . My 16 27rr is going back to factory for several issues but the one you may want to watch on the frame where the safety chains are attached the hitch rubs on chains .

Get those chains checked & if necessary moved. I'm the one who blew the whistle on this issue. Look at the very top link when the TV is at an angle to the TT.

Mine crushed my chains pretty good. Very poor location for the chains, even if they do not hit anything... The point of the chains is to catch the trailer if it lets go. Kinda hard when they are next to each other. They SHOULD be at least a foot apart to get a good cross.

FR continues to deny that this is a problem. I changed hitches because of it and still need to move my chains. It's a big PIA. I went with husky centerline the hitch head is not as wide but still pinches not as bad. I just need to get gains moved this spring. I went back and forth between Lippert, FR, and the manufacture of the equalizer. Of course changing out hitches was a cost I was not liking.

I even got to the point of getting it to a FR dealer to move the chains and when I went to pick up the dealer did not do it. They refused even though Forrest river and Lippert said they could do it like riderblokes.

If they don't move them or fix. I'm a welder I'll fix my self and I agree the chains are the backup support and they need the proper spacing. I don't feel I should have to shell out the extra $$ I like my hitch. If they don't fix it with all the other stuff I got wrong I'll move it my self .

27RR Grey Wolf

Rmac04401 - it's going great. I went to Conway AR for 3 weeks to work with the UMC NOMADS and then came to Dade City FL since Dec 21. I have been working with Habitat Care-a-Vanners and will into early April.
I ride with my motorcycle friends on the weekends as well.
The 26RR has been flawless, I must say. I will be working on the awning to create a deflapping system despite having the poles and tie downs installed.
I'd recommend NOMADS & Habitat to anyone.
You can see my pix on Facebook.

Awesome to hear. We took ours down to Florida over MLK weekend. Had a great time and love love the 26rr. Really loved riding motorcycle in January. It's still sitting in trailer because too much snow to get it to the shed/garage.

I'm not understanding what you guys are talking about? Are the chains attached to the trailer are too close together?

I say the chains are too close to the hitch and when you have to nave sharp turns catches chains on head of hitch. I believe they should be a little farther back. And probably a little garter apart everyone has their own opinion ..

I know I could alway buy a new hitch. The one I got is brand new and works great . I'm a cheap skate and would rather do some welding and mods to make it work the way I think they should be and the same as my other trailers

27rr ramp deck

I would like to make the ramp into a deck using cables. The door part is pretty straight forward does anyone have any pictures of where to attach the cables to the trailer?
