I'm a new member -- just registered. We're pretty new to the RV thing, bought our first travel trailer ('14 CrossRoads Zinger 26BL) last spring, but now realize that bringing our toys along with dramatically improve our camping/travel experience. Our Zinger has 7ft (84") ceilings, which was one of the factors that sold us on the Zinger, especially for the wife. I've spent countless hours researching and physically looking at travel trailer toy haulers that are within the weight capacities of my '99 F150 long bed w/5.4L & tow package. I just bought a 300cc trike (93"L x 46"W x 570lb) for the wife, I have a Kawasaki ZRX1200R (84"L x 31"W x 500lb) and a Yamaha DT175 (83"L x 34"W x 215lb). Hauling those three would be Load A, which would be typical on a longer trip. For a typical two-night trip, we'll take Load B, which would included the Yamaha, along with a Polaris Trail Blazer 250 (75"L x 47"W x 490lb) and a Kawasaki Brute Force 300 (75"L x 43"W x 540lb). I'm pretty confident that Load A will fit in a 27RR, but I'm not so sure about Load B. The garage is too narrow to fit both four wheelers parked next to each other (straight in), but I may be able to pull one in, turn it 90 degrees, then pull the other straight in along one wall, and pull the Yamaha straight in next to it. But the biggest issue may be the low ceiling height (78") in the Grey Wolf, which is 6" lower than our Zinger. When we looked at a 27RR in January, a few seconds upon entry, my wife said "no way" because of the low ceilings. The Palomino Puma XLE29FBC has a very similar layout to the 27RR, but it's not quite as nicely appointed, but it does have 80" ceilings and lighter interior colors, giving it a more open feel. We both really like the new Venture Sport Trek 302VTH (aluminum/fiberglass w/10ft garage), which has 84-96" ceilings, murphy bed, and a similar layout to the 27RR and Puma, but it's $3000-5000 more than those two and it's pushing 6800lb UVW and is 35ft long. I'm not going to get another truck just so I can pull a heavier trailer, so the 302VTH is really not something I should seriously consider. I've brought "open floor plan" trailers into the mix, due mainly to lower weight and/or taller ceilings, and the one that fits just about every requirement we have is the Wolf Pack 24PACK14 with gel coat walls, 90" ceilings, 102" wide exterior, electric bed, seamless counter top & sink cover, 8cf Norcold refer, nice bathroom, and real walkaround bed with hinged doors for privacy (wife likes). With over 14ft of "shared" cargo space, the WP has more usable space than the 27RR and Puma, but obviously it doesn't have the advantages of a separate garage. Because of the additional foot of ceiling height and 6" of width, the WP feels huge inside compared to the GW. Two other open floor units I've looked at are the Coleman (Dutchmen) CTS250TQ (82" ceiling) and the Dutchmen Rubicon 2100 (84-96" ceiling). If we had to pull the trigger on a separate garage unit, our choices are very limited, and it would probably end up being the Puma because of the 2" higher ceilings than the 27RR. What do ya'll think? Are there any other light weight TH with separate garages? Is the open cargo area the better choice?

I have yet to find anything else thats not a 5th wheel and out of the 1/2 ton pulling range.

The 24pack14 is similar floor plan to the 26rr. Just has compressor and fueling station and wider ramp door. I believe that is over 9000 lbs. that's why I went with 26rr it did not go over my weight limit for 2002 f150. I don't think your loads would work in grey wolfs. Seems heavy loads. There is only about 2600lbs cargo capacity in mine. Once you get all gear in. My one bike pushes the max weight.

Also the Grey Wolf Rr models are on a travel trailer frame verse a Toy hauller frame. These ones arent really made to load down with much.

My maximum "toy load" would be less than 1400lb, so capacity wise, I'm well within the GW limits. The low ceiling height is the biggest issue with the GW product.

Does anyone have an idea of what to do with my spare tire on my 27rr like a good place to mount it or mod I can do they just set it in my back area on the floor not mounted.

This is what I did. Have not checked tongue weights yet. But should be well within limits.
Fits in between my under bed drawers I installed. You can go to the thread pimp my 26rr to see other mods that would work in your 27rr.

Gets it up out of the way, and that is a good price! Normally it is over $100 everywhere I looked.

I like the ideas on the spare tires so far. I just stacked two under the bed over by the water tank. If I ever need them it'll be an episode to get them out. I got two because if one goes the other was overweight so it automatically becomes a spare. My dealer advised me against mounting it on the back door which was my original thought.

Does anyone have pictures of a mount for the front with generator and or storage box? I would like to be able to remove the generator while camping so as not to vibrate through the camper at night while sleeping.

So we just picked up our 27rr Friday evening and just tried the rear ramp door a few minutes ago. It was hard to pull down the upper right corner but thought maybe the seal was just sticking a little bit. When I went to close it I noticed it's not lined up correctly. The left has a decent gap and the right is hitting the screws. Has anyone else had any issues and/or know if I can adjust it?

Did your dealer not check it? I would talk to them about it. It could be that something is bent or poorly fitted.

I haven't had a chance to call them yet. The dealer was 2.5 hrs away and we never checked the ramp before we drove it home. Figured that would be something the manufacturer would have noticed as it was built. I'll take a closer look to see if there is a way to adjust it later this week when it's warmer and there's more daylight but if anyone knows how to do it and could save me some time and frustration I would be very greatful!

How level were you? These things are light weight and very flexible. If I am way out of level my side doors will stick a bit.

I agree with doc73, check your level. Mine is slightly off kilter and the door is hard to open because of it.

Did you have your stabilizer jacks down? If so, try the door without having them down. I had a Hybrid and noticed if I did not put the stabilizers down evenly the door ends would not line up properly. You might be having the same issue, worth a shot.

The seal sticks if not used for a couple weeks. Tried wd40. Not much help. I see daylight in different spots through the seal but never had a leak or metal on metal. Do have a gouge in the door lip from this morning when I bottomed out. Pre coffee loading ended with head up posterior.
