Just picked up and towed the trailer home today through the mountains in a rain storm with high winds coming across mountain tops. Did ok but was squatting the rear end pretty good. The dealership said that I don't need to use my air bags (AirLift 1000) with the equalizer hitch but I am going to. It bounces too much when I hit bumps and sits a little too low in the rear, although the rzr should help out some too. Truck had no problem pulling or stopping the trailer and held good down 8 percent grade in 5th gear, didn't even touch brakes

I talked to Equal-I-zer and Blue Ox and both said to set the Airlift bags to 35 psi before before setting up the hitch.

Thanks that's what I was wondering what the proper way to set it up is, since I'm likely going to re set it up with my rzr in it. I'm not sure they set it up properly anyhow, because my truck was squatted more than I would think it should be.

You should check into adding a leaf spring. It's much cheaper and stiffens things up nicely. It worked great for my trailer.

ChipBruce, snow has melted and am working on my to do list for camping, back to the roll up screen door, I have the screen and channel, now my question is, what are we screwing into? Is it metal or wood?

Wood. I used short dry wall screws. It hasn't budged! Won't either! Good luck. I put the screen in the channel on the ground and then hung as one piece. Easy-peasy, as my grand daughter says.

27RR tires
Just an update from earlier post, I upgraded the tires 14 inch to
15 inch D load and everything worked fine as it turns out there is more than enough room for the larger tires, could have gone to 16 inch.
Just though I would post what I found out.

Thanks for the update on tire load range and stepping up to a 15" rim. i am going to go that route as my can am commander 1000 puts me right at the load limits of the tire and a little breathing room will be nice. I load up the machine in backwards and that seems to help with weight distribution. its a 2016 27rr built in feb "16". Using a 2006 Ram 2500 CTD to pull it. Such a great camper, we love it. Its our first and it works out well for my two young sons (6 months, and 2 years) and wife. So far we have used it twice out at big scrub campground in ocala national forest and no issues at all. Great machine! Glad i found this thread/ forum!

That's a good idea. What rims and from where and what tires, and just to be more nosey, what prices did the rims and tires run? If they fit a 27RR they will fit a 26RR I believe.

The new ram's have coil springs so this isn't an option for me, i could have gotten a heavier coil spring but I prefer the air so when I'm not towing i let the air out and the truck rides like a car again

27rr tires
The tires are towmax and the rims are dexter, bought from an rv parts
dealer in west central Indiana. He kept the five old tires ( little over one
year old) and i got six new tires all were spin balanced. And he installed
them for about 525.00 total.
Hope that answered your questions.

Anyone with the electric leveling jacks having issues with them? When mine are down they don't seem to stabilize the trailer very well. I have tried putting blocks under them so they don't go down as far and it doesn't seem to help. Do the power jacks just not work as well as the manuals?

Make sure the wheels are chocked? I push mine against them while TV is hooked up then put the other set in front - this keeps it nice and tight.
Or you can buy these...

I have the x chocks. It doesn't move at all front to front. Side to Side is a joke, it moves as much with the jacks down as it does with them up.

I use wood also under mine vs rubber pads and it seems to help, maybe you could use a couple more jacks under frame. I may consider these later on. Several neighbors when I was camping last year used these.

I added scissor jacks in front of the forward axle and with all six down I don't feel any movement at all. My toyhauler is similar in size to the 27RR but about 2,000 pounds heavier. Not sure if that extra weight helps. B
