I would try to find the smaller if you can as the 7000 will be heavier (though, on paper, the 325PACK13 has up to 2,710 lbs. of CCC; check your yellow sticker) and will likely use a bit more fuel.

We do love our built-in 5500.

Jake. I'm assuming you're talking about a built-in unit? If so, Ependydad makes good points.

When it comes to power, we always think more is better. But the 5500 runs two ACs comfortably. You'd probably have to throw in the microwave and the wife's hair dryer before you started creating problems.

For all intents and purposes, I don't think the bigger generator will hurt you so long as you know the pitfalls of it. $1,000 more pays for a lot of the extra gas to go into it.

Will the space fit the bigger generator?

Do you need to check the wiring size to make sure that it can carry the extra 12amps (58 vs 46)? I honestly don't have any idea there.

Did you just cut out along the template to install it? How did you route the conduit to the transfer box? Installing a generator in mine this week.

Install was simple I drilled a hole in the back wall on the left side above the steel plate that is visible from the battery compartmant and ran the conduit along the top of said steel channel to the transfer switch. I cut the plate out on the bottom and all the bolt holes lined up perfectly.
