Check your trailer brake wiring

Just had this problem on my non FR 5er which brought to mind having had it on my 05 WP22 Wolf Pack and my 16 26RR Grey Wolf. Brake controller indicates a problem with brake wiring shorted. Usually intermittent. Grommet,s (4) where brake wires enter and leave the axles to cross to the other side have deteriorated and/or are missing allowing wires to rub on sharp edge where it enters and leaves the axle causing a short indication. Seems to be common to several axle manufacturers. My latest reminder came as I left the Eisenhower tunnel headed East and the red light came on. As we have some new guys on the 26RR 27RR threads I thought it worth mentioning as not everyone knows of it.

I found the same thing. Grommet was not installed properly or not at all. I caught it before it caused any problem. Found more than a few other wiring issues that needed the addition of some of the corrugated wiring loom installed where wires routed around frame gussets etc with no added protection. If you look, you will find
