Crappy mattress

Has anyone replaced crappy mattress that came with camper? Our old trailer we had a innerspring mattress made by local manufacture but they have shut down and we were stupid and let that mattress go with camper. Don't want to take out a loan for new mattress and hesitant to buy one off line without trying them. What do you have and do you like? How long have you had it?

Previous to my Hyperlite XLR 29HFS, I owned a GW 21RR; and yes, these have terribly cheap and uncomfortable mattresses. That's OK, because good RV mattress cost a bundle and I would rather find a good one at a lower price.

I don't remember what I upgraded to in the GW, but the XLR I got this one, a Sleep Revolution 10" foam from Walmart...

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sleep-Revo...ingMethod=p13n

I wasn't sure of how foam would do, but its pretty good. It is firmer than I suspected, but I get a good nights sleep and wake without aches or pains. This mattress sleeps better than my Sterns and Foster at home. It is a little bit warmer sleeping on foam (for me).

It came compressed in a box; sealed in an air tight plastic bag but getting it in position, cutting the straps and taking out of the bag it came up to the full 10". Some complain about smell. I left it unmade; and the windows open for a day and smell was gone, plus it wasn't that bad to begin with. I would recommend this particular mattress.

I need to get a standard queen for the bed in the toy bay next. I'll be getting this same one.

We have had a Tempurpedic at home, so I wanted something comparable in our TT. I didn't want to spend $3,000 for one in the TT, so I went searching and found the Spa Sensations Gel Memory Foam (cooler) at Walmart for $200. Ordered it on Saturday, it was delivered on Monday. We LOVED it!

When our Tempurpedic at home needed to be replaced, it was replaced with a California King size of the Walmart brand.

We purchased a fifth wheel in 2011 and before we took delivery or it, I ordered a new mattress from Walmart, which was awaiting it's arrival. We camp host and spend 100+ nights in our fifth wheel and it still sleeps wonderfully. Our mattress in our S&B is still in great shape after 5 years, so that is my recommendation.

We ordered a queen size even though our TT had a short queen. It fitted itself in just fine but it was a little harder to get to the storage underneath, but it could be done.

Latex Mattress

Hi,

I haven't got my new MH yet, but I will get a latex mattress to replace the standard mattress. I have a latex mattress at home and can't imagine sleeping on anything else.

There is a manufacturer in Covina, CA that sells direct to the public, and will ship anywhere. If you are inclined to look at latex, check them out. This is where I bought my home Cal King and the price, quality and service were fantastic. They have and do build mattresses for any RV.

Flexus Comfort Mattress Company - Quality Latex Mattresses

I am not a shill or employee! Just a very satisfied customer and want to pass on another option. If you are local to So Cal, they have a small showroom.

We put on a memory foam mattress topper. Much cheaper than a new mattress and makes a huge difference. We got a 3.5 inch thick short queen and trimmed it to fit.

Heck ya! I have two herniated disks and can't sleep on anything but a therapedic mattress.

It does seem a bit more stiff if it's chilly out but soon softens up after getting into bed.

You are close enough you may want to check this place in Pottstown out. I know nothing about them, but I had seen the name posted around somewhere before. Site says they have 38 models on display...........

RV Mattresses

We ordered our trailer with the Serta mattress upgrade. Have been happy with it so far.

Had the crappy mattress, put on a 4" memory foam topper, still crappy, had one made by the company that made the mattress for our 1st queen bed, made to our specks. My wife is happy now and so am I. I had to sell one of my kids to pay for it. At 40 years old, he wasn't happy. Still have 2 older ones.........

Well gives you more kids for payment when that one wears out. Our old camper we had one specially made cost a fortune. That company went out of business so now going on recommendations. Hopefully first try will do the trick.
