Remember during the 70's and 80's when Detroit thought that no one could touch us. They all said that those cheap little foreign cars would never last? Well, guess what, they became longer lasting with better gas mileage and better warranties. The public bought them. It mad us play "catch up" to where now, the "big 3" are producing quality cars. And, we had to join forces with the imports to do it economically.
So, if a foreign TT manufacturer(s) ever gets a good foothold in the US/Canadian market with good quality units, I fear we may be playing "catch up" again soon. I think that if that happens, we will see fewer and fewer TT manufacturers and fewer models to choose from as they are forced to streamline and improve quality.
Remember all the vehicle brands that we have lost over the past 30 years? Especially in the last 10 years? Most were initially bought out by the big 3 who eventually "fazed" out several makes & models. American Motors (Chrysler kept Jeep), Plymouth, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Saturn & probably a few more I can't remember right now.
So, let's get on the stick and do a better job in "quality control". I think our TT's look GREAT but, we need to get them to last longer while still looking GREAT 4, 5, 6, & 7 years down the road.
