New 25RR

Hello Everyone, I am patiently waiting to pickup my 25RR soon, I am about 800 miles from the dealer and I am going to make the trip a small vacation and I am going to haul my motorcycle in the box of my truck and hope to haul it home in the toyhauler and do some camping-riding on my way home,
My question is are the tie downs in the floor of the 25RR adequate to hold a 800 lbs. Bike? I have a homemade wheel chock that I used in a rented camper before and it worked fine in that camper but I have seen that some people are bolting the tiedowns all the way through the floor,
Also is anyone towing thier 25RR with a 1\2 ton? if so what is your hitch, tow truck, ect, I am trying to decide if I need the 800 lbs. or 1200 lbs. bars on the eq hitch (Reese)
Forest river has the specs at 857 hitch weight but the bike in the rear will take some of the weight off as 90% of it will be behind the rear axle, also I will not carry water with ever when towing, My tow truck is a 2012 F-150 eco with 3.55 ratio and trailer tow, brake control,
Also anything I should look at closely before leaving the dealer? (pertaining to the 25RR) I have read the list other people have wrote about picking up a new RV and am going to follow there advice also.

Driving that distance to pick it up I would check every system out and make sure everything is working as it should. You may consider camping nearby for a day or to and putting everything through it's paces. I recently bought a 19RR and so far I have had zero issues. Hopefully it stays that way. As far as the tie downs go I have hauled my 700lb ATV with no problems. Typically they catch a frame cross member with the fasteners for the d-rings. My tie downs seem very sturdy. Congrats and good luck with the new hauler.

I have the 19wp, which is fairly close in size/weight/floorplan to the 25rr. I pull mine with a 1/2 ton (tow rated at 9200lbs), and it will pull it, but don't expect to set any records. It don't like the head winds or hills, but otherwise will pull it ok - as long as you are not in a hurry. Agree, if you have the means, camp somewhere nearby and run everything to see how it works. They really aren't that complicated, but I did have to take mine back for some minor warranty work (hot water heater failed, kept blowing fuses, and a couple other little things. My tongue weight isn't near as heavy as yours, but I think my hitch is rated at 1000lbs. I'd go heavier rather than lighter on the hitch. You'd end up having more stuff in the camper than you think and your hitch weight will only get heavier.

Thanks for the info guys, The last camper I pulled was a 25' Hobbie toy hauler with 2 bikes in it, we got into the hills north and west of Sturgis and the truck I had at that time struggled in the long hills, down into second and tach at 4000 rpm's going up some of the hills, The Hobbie was low to the ground also and fairly areodynamic, is the 25rr low also? (from bottom of camper to the ground) I bought over the phone so never seen one in person

Camp nearby and shake it down from stem to stern.
We did with our 19rr and were glad we did. Only one issue w/ the trailer but tore the jiffy-leg spring off the bagger when loading it due to the angle of ramp vs. floor. Thankfully I was 20 min away from the H-D shop cuz they stayed open 30 min late to sell me my spring.

We tow ours w/ a 6.4 Ford PSD (tuned)and it tows like no tomorrow. Mileage ain't bad either (12-13+)

Have fun with it - check out the "Pimp" thread too. Definitely some great ideas on here too. Keep in mind the trailer was built for a price point and you'll find things to "fix" and upgrade. Have fun - enjoy the ride.

Yes I am concerned about the ramp angle, My Fatboy is lowered so not much room there, I was thinking I could use the tongue jack and raise the front up and use a couple blocks of wood between the ground and the ramp door, depends on how height the floor of the camper is I guess, I wish Forest River had more specs and manuals online, It would be nice to study things some before I pick it up.
I bought it from the Outpost in Indiana, they have camp sites right at the dealer so I will spend one night there forsure.

There's another thread on here somewhere - can't remember, but it outlines what others have done to rectify the situation without tearing up the underside of their scoots. We who ride Harleys know what H-D REALLY stands for when we go to the dealer! (Hundred Dollars)

Yes - jacking up the front of the trailer helps. Additionally, I put those yellow, $5.00 wheel chocks under the back of the ramp to elevate it as well. The I put a short ramp up to bridge from the ground to the trailer ramp. Its the kind you drive your car up on to change the oil. That usually does the trick but I still crawl it over the threshold just to make sure I'm not tearin off springs, floorboards and the like.

Ya know, that is a great point. These are definately not expensive toy haulers relative to others, so don't expect all the greatest amenities. I definately believe you get your money's worth - in a good way. They're pretty darn good units for the price. Enjoy!

That is perfect for me, I am a DIY type of guy, love tinkering on that stuff, I read through the "Pimp My" and there is a bunch of great ideas in there I am looking forward to doing when I get it home.
Has anyone bought one of those Big Box Store RV storage sheds? I mean the barn shaped ones with the tarp roof? Are they good enough to last for a couple years?

25RR tie downs advice needed

We just got our new 25 RR toy hauler. We have 2 HD's dressers a classic and street glide. There are only 6 tie downs, 4 in the back (2 along each wall) 2 in kitchen area. That obviously is not enough tie downs so does anyone have any advice on where to intall additional tie downs? Did you also use wheel chucks for extra support? Any advice would be extremely helpful and VERY much appreciated.

I had two D rings added to the front of the kitchen. I had the dealer install them. The dealer contacted forest river to find out were they could put them. I just purchased a Bolt It On choke system. I havent used it yet but it looks like it will work well. I have a road glide. I ll take a pic of the choke.

Bolt It On Motorcycle racks

Bolt it on customized my rail to fit the longer and shorter size D rings lengths in my camper.

I paid around 300 plus 70 shipping.Seemed like a lot until I figured in the cost of my road glide and camper interior.
