Hint do a cut out of your tire and put that on it when looking for placement. Not too many choices for placement because of tanks and cross beams. I installed myself in less than an hour. Not bad. With your mechanical abilities it will be a piece of cake.

Can you show (or tell) specifically where you installed this? I have a 26rr and would love to get the tire out of the living area

From the inside edge of the back bumper. It is 42 1/2 inches to the edge of the faceplate of tire rack. Rough sketch

There is a brace beam running between I beams that you need to make sure your tire does not hit. I eyed it but the above measurement should work well

I wish I had this sketch 1 day earlier. Very nice for you to take the time to draw it up for others doing the same thing. I did end up with almost the same measurements myself when I installed early afternoon yesterday. Definitely be sure to measure as suggested off the back bumper to get it lined up in both sides. Probably the only thing that's a consistent thing to measure off of. Here's the end results for me. I think it turned out good.Click image for larger version

rmac ~ would you mind telling me how high you have raised the rear ramp and which ramps you found for the extension? I have a set of leveling screw type jacks which I think will work under the rear ramp, what do you think?

Pimp my 26rr

Pat, My underbelly is enclosed towards front since that is where my black water and grey water tanks are located. I have a forward bathroom. My fresh is enclosed over the axles. The only place that was not enclosed was the back behind the axels and way up in front a small space.

My propane line did not run down the middle either. My water heater is up front and stove is ahead of axles. I can get pics tomorrow if you like and post

The I beams and cross is same but the propane line and whatever that black wire or hose hanging is different. What is that hanging?

Looks like a great job. Your camera takes better under carriage pics than mine.

The hanging is something 12 power related. Run along the bottom and into the area where the power panel is.

That is strange that it comes out 4 feet then goes back up. I'd be afraid of something possibly catching it.

How many struts are needed per door? 1 or 2? This is in reference to post #18.

Thanks,

Updated my cabinet section over wheel well after July 4th trip the whole section tipped in. The staples they attach with don't hold worth beans.

Re did base then added wood over top of IKEA cubes so now I can sit on it to put my shoes on. Click image for larger version

Should not come away now used 2x3 for the base and screwed into the floor. The only thing holding up the piece over tire well is wood stripping and 3/4 pressboard. Getting the knack of matching stain color🎉.

Still building houses with habitat Riderbloke?

Thanks. Even when you do something initially you find ways to improve on idea or design.

I don't quite have the fine woodwork skills nor all the good tools for producing such nice cabinetry. Nevertheless my box over the wheel well and the medicine cabinet I mounted are reasonable and functional. All my mods have worked well and my DW is very happy with them.

Going to North Carolina for 2 weeks Habitat starting early October then on to Dade City, FL for 4 months building. Give it a shot sometime - it's very rewarding and you meet some great people and some with interesting lives.

In FL I hope to do some more research into ambulances when I'm riding around and also I may come back via Brindlee Mountain to see their vehicles on the way home. Looking ahead for a new TV.

Keep up the good work.

That's an interesting idea for tow vehicle.
