Power Tongue Jack???
We are currently looking at buying a 21RR and I got to thinking about the power tongue jack. It's a feature I want, but was wondering what happens if it stops working? How do I raise or lower the trailer to hook it to my truck? Do they have a backup crank?

Welcome to the forum!
There's alway a manual crank that you can use to raise/lower the jack should it fail unless the jack is mechanically broken. The benefits of the power jack far outweigh any concern of 'what if'.

We bought our power tongue jack after the fact and I carry the manual one in the storage compartment seeing as they are quite small. I always have a large tool kit so doing a change out is a non issue as there are only 3 bolts usually. For others I would suggest carrying a good bottle jack as you will need it to jack up your trailer anyway if you have a flat.

Have been using my Atwood 2500# tongue jack since 2004 on two different TT's. It has worked great all of the time. Had to manually crank the tongue one time when I ran the battery down.

If you have the 7 pin trailer connector and it's just a low battery you can hook it up to the TV and use it's battery to operate the jack.

That is handy to know Now the little lady is thinking about the 25RR model after stepping up to the 21RR from the 19RR originally. Almost too many choices out there

If it's a new 21RR and you're looking to add it as an option, you may want to reconsider and have the dealer install an aftermarket jack like Husky, Barker or Atwood. Forest River uses LCI brand jacks which have a tendency to break. Do a search on this forum and you will be reading for a while about various problems these jacks have had.

My electric tongue jack failed when I was dropping off the trailer after the pdi so it was necessary to use the handle to manually raise and lower the jack to disconnect. The method is pretty simple.

We just finished a deal on a 25RR from a local dealer and pick it up on Dec 8th, pics to follow

Don't know the brand but it has the power awning & power tongue jack. Walkthrough on the 8th and then start the modifications  )
