Questions about the 25RR Toy Hauler

I have pretty much decided that this is the camper I want and even spoke to the bank and have been approved for the loan. Now I'm coming to garner some knowledge from the folks who know what they are talking about.

Truck specs
##############
2003 Ford F150 Super Crew 4 door. 5.4L Triton V8
Towing package w transmission cooler

I'm a bit of a tard on the towing thing so I just got what I could from inside the door, the tow bar, and the bumper.

Inside driver door
##############

GVWR: 6750lb/3061KG
Front GAWR: 3600lb
Rear GAWR: 3800lb

Tow Bar (seemed well anchored to frame)
##############
(Weigh Distribution)
Max Tongue: 870lb
Max Tow: 8700lb

(Weight Carrying)
500lb
5000lb

Bumper (I'm guessing pull capabilities of the bumper)
##############
500lb
5000lb

First and foremost, can I even pull this trailer ok?

I have been doing a LOT of reading on frame issues. Does Lippert Frame issues come into play with Travel Trailers?

About the only thing I plan to throw into it right now is a canoe and some clothes. I don't even think I'll put water into it until I get where I'm going.

Now, those are the dealers numbers, not sure how accurate they are.

The hitch weight seems a bit high, perhaps because its counterbalanced when you have your bikes or whatever in the back of the trailer.

4700 lbs empty isn't bad. Mine is 5300lbs, add in 830lbs of water, and two quads, and all the firewood and other crap we take out. Thats what I tow with my 1/2 ton truck.

Hopefully some of the more experienced guys will chime in.

I'm with Rod - hitch weight seems high for your 150. Throw a load in that trailer and you're really pressin the limit.

Not really sure I'd pull it with the bumper so I'm glad you got the tow bar too.

I've got an F-250 with the 6.4 diesel and it pulls our 19rr like it was nothin.

I'd really say, despite what the trailer dealer might say (the same dealers who told us we could pull our 19rr with a 6 cyl Ford Explorer) you may wanna do an up grade on your tow vehicle or choose a lighter trailer.

My opinion.

...hope that helps

I have 25rr, just took it out this past weekend for the 1st time. Gear, 1 - 700 lbs quad, no water. My F150 has a tow rating of 6800 lbs. It pulled her just fine, but I didn't go through any mountains. Some big hills she did shift down but nothing bad. I have a 800lbs Reese distribution hitch with one sway bar. When I brought it home I didn't have a sway bar, screw that trucks passing you suck you in. Now it trailers nice with one sway bar.

Spoke with the ford dealer and the guy that looked at my truck said I should be good hauling the trailer. I had not heard of an equalizer hitch until he mentioned it. Sounded good to me. Below is what I'm looking at for the trailer. I had decided on a toy hauler for my half ton that wouldn't ruin the transmission and after days of looking the 25rr won out every time.

Below is from the RV dealer. What do you think guys, good deal?

Travel Trailer: 2003 25RR Toy Hauler
Price: $17,0000
RV dealer comment: "We fill the lp tanks, install a new battery and box, include a equalizer hitch with sway control and install brake control in your truck
We also don't have any extra fees - doc - prep - delivery"

Is that a 2003 0r a 2013?

If 2013 then a great price for what is included based on my research. I just bought a 2013 for $16,000 but had to pay for the hitch and the battery - about $600 and a $300 dealer prep.

I think the prices can be different with options already installed. I just bought one, was 15000 plus 700 for equalizer hitch installed. No spare tire, manual stabilizer jacks, electric tongue jack, screen for back ramp door opening. I got it near Cincinnati. The outpost in south bend Indiana has probably better price but I didn't want to go that far. It's a grey wolf 25rr, new 2013.

I just saw this and will take a shot at an answer for a first post: I'd call the factory. Jaime is the Gray Wolf rep and can sell you parts that come on a Gray Wolf. Her number is 260-593-2366.
