TV antenna and Sony radio

Hey all,

Finally picked up our Vengeance 25V on Saturday and got home a few hours before winter decided to make a grand return ... ugh!

Anyway, where is the TV antenna? I don't see the crank that's normally on the ceiling.

Also, anyone know of a quick start user guide that might help me figure out the Sony radio in the rig? For the life of me I can't figure out how to turn off the outside speakers let alone all of the other features!

Thanks,

Got a pic of radio face? Tv ant. could be a 'fixed' one that doesn't need to be raised to work...

Sorry - should have added the radio info. It's a Sony MEX-N5100BT.

Rather then guess, can you Google that radio for a downloadable manual?

I agree. That looks like a standard aftermarket car stereo, not an RV stereo, so chances are there won't be a way to turn off the speakers. Whoever installed that 'might' have wired them to just some of the speaker outputs so maybe adjusting the fade and/or balance might do it, but that's just a guess.

Yeah, I've got the Owners Guide and yes, it is a car radio. It's gotten decent reviews on Crutchfields and other sites however, I don't find the manuals to these things very intuitive though I also realize that I'm a bit "challenged" when it comes to things like this. I was hoping someone might have just a simple 1 pager "Setup" kind of guide.w

Contact Sony by email and request. They are a very good company to do business with nowadays.

I would check the front to rear fader. This is how I would wire it myself.

Ditto...On a standard car radio like this you FADE between front and back pairs of speakers (no matter where the 4 speakers are actually located).
Find the fader control by going into menu...then setup...then sound...then fader. Major pain to have to go through this every time. I would suggest adding a simple disconnect switch to your outside speakers.

I'm really thinking about swapping out the radio as well. It's way too complicated for the # of times we use it. We also dry camp a bunch and having pull the fuse (to save on the batter) and then reprogram each time will not be fun.

On my XLR
The outside speakers are turned on/off via a separate rocker switch mounted in on the ceiling next to the radio.
My radio is in the garage area.

Naaa ... they didn't think that one through very well. No switches for the speakers.

As far as the antenna is concerned, if you have a round thingie that looks a bit like a flying saucer on your roof, that is the antenna.

I installed a rocker switch in my 31V like DSQR said was in his XLR. Anytime you remove power from the radio it will go back to the default settiings a real pain. Single pole single throw switch

There is no crank for the antenna it is an onmi-directional unit up on top.

Sadly the roof is covered with icky cold white stuff ... as in snow. So I have no idea what the antenna looks like.

The snow is finally gone ... again and I can see the RV roof. It is indeed the onmi-directional type antenna.

Thanks all.

Check manual, some auto/boat radios have-alive connection that provides power ( uAmps) to the memory/clock to keep it alive while disabling the other radio functions. If equipped, that line and general radio power are usually connected together during install. If you replace it, look for that capability.
