Tying down Toys in the 17RP

I have my 17RP set up with a wheel chock for tying down one dirt bike and it works great. BUT what if I decide to take two dirt bikes

This thing only has four tie downs on the floor. Has anyone ever done this? If so please edumicate me and pictures would be grand.

I can fit 4 dirtbikes in my 26RR. I added another tiedown at the back of the trailer in between the factory ones. When I load my bikes, I will place them on the stand where I want them (facing toward the ramp door) and place one of those plastic wheel chocks for the trailer in front of the front wheel. I then use the straps to cinch the bikes down. Once you get it right, the front wheel will be on the chock and the back door being pulled slightly forward and stabilized on the stand.

I don't have a recent pic, but here is one with 3 dirtbikes and a 4-wheeler:

I use the Pitbull Trailer Restraint System for my V-Strom, no tie downs. The 17RP, which I own a 2015 is narrower then the larger TT's. You maybe able to get two dirt bikes in, but I have room for one street bike.

I just bought the chock system for my 22RR from http://www.boltiton.com . I got the 88" crossbar and 2 dirtbike chocks. Should be here in a week or so, so I can post up a picture when I get it installed and bikes inside. I'd love to get my BMW 1150GSA in there with another bike, but I think that's hoping too much.

That looks like a great idea as you tie the bikes to the rack and not the floor tie downs. I do have a Pingle wheel chock in the center and can tie down one no problemo' Just trying to figure out how to tie down two with only two floor tie downs up front. Maybe one bike in forwards and tie handle bars to the floor. The second bike in backwards, close the door, tie down handle bars to the back two tie downs, Tie bikes together. ???

Of course I only need to take one bike for my next trip, if I ever use this thing. , so I will experiment a little then.

I want to see pictures of the Beemer and another bike in there and tied down.

You and me both! I'll take pictures as soon as I get the setup next week. I'm excited to start the season. It's finally stopped snowing and raining here in the *desert*... and I think the last freeze warning was this past weekend, so I'm ready to go!

OK so i have been eyeing this more and more. It seems like a fantastic idea.

I will do some measuring and draw up a schematic to see what will fit. With the 17RP I am not sure how much room I will have. If I have enough room so that two bikes can go side by side it will work great. If that will not work maybe one of the extended wheel chocks would work. Or back the bikes in so the bars are towards the rear where there is more room because of the fridge.

At any rate the bar would have to come out every time I take the bikes in or out to make living space.

I already drilled holes in the floor for the Pingle wheel chock but have rubber pads over the entire floor so that could be undone fairly easy.

I think you have found the perfect solution. I did not really want to drill more holes in the floor to permanently mount things. This setup looks like it can easily be reconfigured for when the little KTM needs to go or the BIG Ducati needs to go.

I just ordered up the 3 Dirt Bike Kit Rack System – Bolt It On Rack Systems with the 77" bar for the 17RP. It appears as if I will need to load the bikes backwards for everything to fit because of the tiny amount of space in this Toy Hauler, but think it will work out great. I got the three bike kit just in case I need to use the longer wheel chock to stagger the bikes.

The owner of this company is a pleasure to work with and I think this rack is a fantastic idea. I am completely over drilling holes all over my floor to mount other things

I will do some pictures when it comes in and I get everything mounted up.

Indeed... very responsive, and quick, considering this is mostly made to order, here in the USA... my setup should be here by Wednesday, so I should have some pictures up soon. I told the owner I'd talk his company up online... I like dealing with small private businesses when they do good. We need to keep jobs here.

Well, finally got the boltiton system. Great construction, fits well. The only problem with my 22RR... the bikes don't fit! There's only 6'-6" between the chock and the tailgate. My shortest bike is 6-9... Just my luck...

I'll have pictures uploaded in a little while...

Can you back them in and put the Boltiton by the rear door? I am thinking that is what I will need to do in order to get two bikes in.

Of course I am talking dirt bikes so probably shorter.

I have not even tried to put one of my street bike in the trailer yet.

Can you angle the rear end over a bit to get the 3" clearance?

I think I can back the bikes in. The KLR650 and the CB500x would fit... I can't back them in by myself...

Great job and that looks good. I have not used mine yet as I have only taken one bike at a time but this seems to be a great solution.

I have not tried the back bar yet but it should work just fine if I back two dirt bikes in. I just got around to putting in the front bar today and it is fantastic. The tie downs in this trailer were setup by someone that had never hauled anything So this works good to spread the tie downs out and provide for a much more stable loading. I needed something better than the Pingle for the Husky and my up coming trip.

As you can see in this picture the trailer tie down are very off center and very close together. The guys at BoltItOn made me a custom offset bar that centers the bike and the load and spreads out the tie down points.

The big Husky fits in there nicely now.

Just wanted ya to know you cost me a few $grand today by simply proving that a 17RP can do what I was hoping.

I immediately committed to a new 17RP about 700 miles from home. I'll throw a couple of toys (bikes) in the bed of the truck and head to Missouri to fetch the hauler. Then go play for a month or so in the mountains.

I love the tidy and first class method of "bolting" the bikes in using the Pit Bull TRS!! Simply awesome.

Cheers
(And my first post on this forum. Howdy folks)

Last summer, I hauled a 250 and a 1200 across the country and back. I made my own chock system. I took a piece of angle iron and cut it to fit between the d-rings. I removed the front crossbar from two Harbor Freight chocks and bolted them to the angle iron. Here is how it is anchored. I have since added quick disconnects.
