About to buy a new Class C

Hello everyone :-) and thank you for taking the time to read us.

My wife and I are about to purchase our first RV, and according to our preliminary enquiries we have decided to go with a Class C model.

My question is, considering there are so many out there (Thor, Jayco, Forest River), what made you decide to go with Forest River? And why would I either go with a Sunseeker, or Forester, or Lexington?

DanandLine, we bought the Sunseeker and got the bang for the buck, but depends on your budget. There are some great MH out there with lots of bells and whistles. Get what your taste buds are hungry for. Good luck! And welcome to the forum

Mine was the length of the bed. We have the 60 X 80. If you look at almost all other class Cs you will see the average about 60X75. We have a 2013 2450S which is perfect for two adults. I do not think it is produced anymore. If you are six foot tall or more this can be very important.

A list of reasons for purchase (in my order of importance):
Fiberglass roof
Bigfoot
Front cap
Elect/gas hot water
Ducted air
Satt (sad no longer a factory option)
Enclosed plumbing
Back up camera
Heated bays
Electric awning
Artic pack
Black water clean out (bad location)

Wish it had:
Slinky tube (installed my own)
Step light (installed my own)
Real rims (not wheel covers)
120 v outlet in back bay (installed my own)
Water faucet in sewer bay
Scare lights (new ones have water & sewer bay LEDs I heard)

Have, dont use:
Outside grill (too big, still use the stand for a smaller grill)
Outside shower

We looked at a lot of product out there and Sunseeker came out on top for the money.

Floor plan was the most important thing for us. Space and where you are willing to compromise is critical. Then outside storage was next.
Then we wanted good quality for a good price. The 3011 fit the bill in all e categorys. We bought a left over new 2014.
Lots of other options that were important like leveler jacks, electric awning, outside entertainment center, etc but you can get those on almost any rv.
If you are new to camping then it will be really hard to know what you want. I would suggest renting a class c close to what you think you want and make lots of notes.

We went for the Lexington since it is just my wife, dog and myself so we did not want or need the overhead bunk. We like the sleek appearance and the entertainment center works well for us.

Hoglou's list pretty much covers it. I'd add the full size non sliding Queen in the 2650s we have coming and this forum. There is quite a selection of individuals here to help you get through any problem

You'd be better off buying a small affordable "A" class for the same money or less. Look at the Forest River FR3, it's loaded and affordable. Safer than a "C" class.
They all come standard with a King Size Bed, more storage space than a "C" class and a great build.

Although I own a Cardinal TT, I also own. Lazy Daze Group C motorhome. No dealer hassle, order straight from factory. Outstanding quality.

I like the above cab area of a class C. Can be used for sleeping, or it's a great storage area.

I would be interested in seeing the data that supports "Safer than a "C" class" if you don't mind sharing it.

The cab over bed is a great place for extra storage. Use lightweight plastic laundry baskets for additional food and paper supplies, for "weather changing" clothes etc. My biggest wants were 1. A fixed bed that didn't have to be taken down and put up. 2. A dry bath with shower door so I can avoid bathhouses 3. A place to sit and relax - swivel passenger seat 4. Large enough freezer to buy and store local specialties eg seafood. I love, love my little coachmen 19 cb. I can travel for a month at a time before restocking - as long as at least one campground has laundry facilities.

The reasons we went for the Forester, after a huge amount of research, were the floorplan, the outside storage, and the overall cosmetic appearance. There are many standard features that are optional on others. As an added bonus, we went from a Class A Georgetown and don't feel the least bit crowded.

12 cu ft 4 door refrigerator
Convection Microwave
TV facing couch (above counter)

Also what you can't see:
Progressive Dynamics Converter
Atwood water heater (no stupid switch outside or flimsy latch)

And a really big plus: Brian and Josh contribute to the forum

Not sure if I can do this but here goes I have owned a product from Thor and I will never own one again, there good for the 1st year but that would be it, a buddy of mine also purchase a class c from then then after one year had more problems than can imagine, traded for fr class b, no looking back for him

My wife and I bought our first class C about 5 years ago. We bought a Four Winds 28A, and it was a pretty good entry level rv. We knew we would only be keeping it for a few years, so we started a list of "musts" and "wants" almost immediately after buying it. We go to the RV show every time it is in town so the list kept growing. Some of the things we liked about the Sunseeker 3170 over the Four Winds 28A were.

Fiberglass roof (most importantly), fiberglass front cap, enclosed dump valves, power mirrors (manual ones never stay in place), back up camera, 12V tv's, slide toppers, power awning, and ducted air. I think all of these things were standard on the Sunseeker. We wanted a larger shower than what is in the 3170, but there are no bunkhouse models out there that offer one.

I also looked at the Forrester version. It was quite a bit nicer, but since I have a 4 year old, it was not worth the extra money.

We have had the Sunseeker for about a year now and have nothing to put on a list for our next rv. We may just keep this one until my son goes off to college.
