Cell phone signal booster
We are spending the season at a campground where you can't get a cell signal. We can get a text but the wifi can't support internet calling. Has anyone used a cellular signal booster?

Weboost has several in their line... I have had good service out of a home unit and they make them for RV's also... there is currently another thread on here about a Weboost install...

You really need a small signal.. say a 1/2 bar, in order for any cell booster to work for ya...

We use WeBoost RV X. Works very well however, remember it boosts a signal, but you need a signal to boost. Unless you have a marginal ( some) cell service, the amp will not work.

I use Weboost also and bought it from folks at TechnoRV. They really have great support and as good a price as Amazon. Great pre purchase support as well to help you get right purchase

I ordered a weboost drive sleek right from weboost. The new drive sleek works with most cell providers. Phone goes into cradle, antenna goes on roof by magnet mount. We use one of our phones for a hotspot. $199 and should be here Friday according to UPS tracking.

Yes I got a Weboost! From Wilson Electronics, they make several kinds. I modified the home booster to my RV ladder. Eventually I will get the proper outside antenna but with the directional antenna it is working fantastic

I also have the weboost 4GX-RV. This has been a big help in remote areas. When parked in the same spot, I attach one of the directional antennas to a mast and connect to it instead of the omnidirectional. This definitely helps as well, once you figure out where to point it.

Charlie, we have one place we camp in the mountains where we weren't able to FaceTime with the Grands (The horror, I know, right?). We bought a directional too and tune it with the LTE discovery app. It suction cup mounts. Now we can see and talk with them. Happy wife, Happy life!

Be sure you can return the unit if you don't have a signal to boost in the campground area. As previously stated, you have to have a signal available to be able to boost it. If not, they don't work.
Good luck.
Regards.

First time out with our new we boost drive sleek. North Michigan and both stops have had little signal which would make it near impossible to do hot spot. Turn on the weboost, wait 10 seconds and 4GLTE 3 to 4 bars. This is with the omnidirectional antenna that came with the unit. I would like to add a directional antenna but the new weboost drive sleek has different connectors and I am not finding a antenna with compatable connector or adapters. If anyone has helpfull info I would be gratefull. Meanwhile I will continue to look.

take a closeup pic of the connector for ID purposes, post it, and I'm sure there is an adapter made somewhere

I'd like to amplify the comment "you have to have a signal" in order to have something to boost.
I just returned from a month of traveling through "No Cell Zones". No bars of any kind, even out on the Interstate. This was Wyoming and considering that there are more cattle in Wyoming than People it was no surprise. Found campgrounds also ran about 50/50 for wifi. Some had and others not.
If you have trouble "unplugging" there are some parts of the country you might want to avoid as there just isn't any internet, cell, wifi, service unless you are in a larger city.
I just got to the point where I'd see LTE service on my phone and text my kids where I was, where I was going, and to not worry if they didn't hear from me for a day or two. When I'd drive back into a service zone my phone would go crazy announcing all the "New" messages.
I actually found that being "unplugged" was quite relaxing.

At our rural ranch we have 3 boosters. One cost $600 from our cell supplier and works poorly. It has been "tuned" for max signal. We also have two WeBoost cell boosters and they are excellent at less than a third the price. Another vote for WeBoost.

I believe the most common connector is a SMA male and the drive sleek has a SMB male.

If this is true, then I also think the directional antenna is 50 ohm coax so perhaps an adapter like this might work... from amazon
