Compartment locks

Has anyone changed their compartment locks from the locks that came with motorhome where all keys fit. I have a truck camper, a fifth wheel camper and coachman concord and the same key fits all compartment locks. Thanks in advance

I replaced mine with this type of lock. Still a standard lock-just a lot less of them out there. A little extra protection against a quick theft. It was very easy to do.

My Rockwood 2703 was broken into two days ago. We store it next to our commercial building behind a 6 foot fence. They opened the storage compartments without keys and rifled through our storage bins. Nothing was stolen but the bins were left sitting on the ground and the storage doors were left open. I believe they were scared off by our vibration alarms on the windows and doors. I am adding more of these in the storage compartments and the pull out steps. I can't imagine the mess I would have found if we stored this at some facility and did not check on it frequently.

I also changed my pass thru to the round keys but you need to keep in
mind anyone with a tire tool or even a large screwdriver can get in no matter
what locks you have.

Just changed and installed 10 cam locks on my new Forester 2501 last week. Easy to do, all keyed the same, about $12.00 each. Got mine from ILH Industrial Lock and Hardware. Good wed site with easy instructions on how to order the correct parts. Ordered mine on a Thursday and got them on Monday, installed on Tuesday. CH751, CAM LOCKS, CAMLOCKS or call 1 800 9329490.

x2. Very good people to deal with. Also, they claim their locks are keyed uniquely to your unit, so you'll be the only one with a key.

I have installed the combo cam locks on my storage doors. They are great. No keys!! We l left the door key inside for our kids when we left the RV so they could get in. It was nice not having to keep track of my keys when I went paddle boarding in the ocean.

I have 12-14 locks on the compartments. I hate having to fiddle thru 3 or four keys to get to to the right key.

Keep in mind that I can open any compartment faster with a large flat blade screw driver than you can with your key. These locks keep honest people honest, but will not prevent a thief from getting in.

I just changed out all of mine last week. Single key opens all compartments.

I agree about locks keeping honest people out however, someone else mentioned that nobody would pay any attention to a dishonest person opening a compartment with a key. If someone was popping one open with a screwdriver I would hope that someone would notice.

I thought the purpose of the locks was only to keep them closed while traveling.

I changed my entry door and my compartment door locks and had all keyed the same so one key opens everything. I found this site helpful and inexpensive RVLocksAndMore | RV Locks | RV Keys | Fastec FIC Locks and Keys . As for people all having the same kry others are right any one can open those compartments no matter what you do, but lets take the temptation away from the honest people and as for the dishonest ones if they have a key they don't look suspicious opening things where as a guy walking around a CG with a screwdriver people are going to notice.
