Whats even scarrier is the international instability, with less oil revenue going into their oil based economies. I say drill baby drill, and only trade oil with US friendly countries. Just sayin'

That's what I had seen, OPEC is continuing to produce at a high rate to try and slow down or stop US production.

I agree but if I am on the road and don't know the area I will use my Pilot Good Sam Card because it is More convent than going looking for slightly cheaper fuel.

Producers decided to price the fuel according to energy content rather than production cost, hence the price difference. Very rational indeed, not to mention the profitability angle. If gas is $3/ gallon, diesel should be around $3.45. This formula can be distorted by ethanol, state taxes and transition to low sulfur distillation which constrained the supply. Most of the time, the 15% differential is pretty close to what you'll see at the pump.

The answer by your acquaintance is Bologna. And he knows it...

And then there is the other theory .... Russia's main revenue is oil second only to taxes on vodka. Consider if you will the implications on Russian's military spending when their revenues decline with world oil prices. Maybe Ukraine ain't in the cards just yet. Maybe the whole business is about controlling Russian hegemony?

Just as a side note, I just got a visa from Sam's club and they give a discount of 5% off fuel up to $6000. I also have the Good Sam/pilot card that gives .08/gallon off, but this saves even more.

Does this mean we have to go back through all of those lovely gas vs. diesel threads and recalculate the TCO for each????

I don't know. I'm thinking that we could come to a completely inconclusive disagreement on that debate with only 120 pages of posts.

Guys, keep in mind of the tax structure by individual state. Diesel is taxed sometimes by as much as $.39 cents per gallon, lowest to highest. Diesel Fuel Taxes - Compare Taxes On Diesel Fuel In All 50 States Then there is the sales tax multiplied on top of that(for those states with ST) increases by another 8-9%.
Also, whats around the corner is complaints by those states with ST, that the tax revenue has decreased, due to lower tax collected at the pump. The general rule is this; the government burn rate is fixed, plus an allowed yearly tax increase for whatever excuse is given at the time. When taxes collected on fuel greatly decrease, as is the case here, "they" will get their pound of flesh from somewhere else. Or, reduce spending, yeah right! Buckle your seat belts everyone.

$3.09 at Sheetz in South Boston VA. Monday, Gas was 2.29. In my 1 stop light Town it's 3.49 and 2.49 for gas. We have a EXXON gas station only no competition. But as of yesterday Sheetz is going to be building a new station across from the State Park across the street from them on high way #58 so they will get some competition. SB is east of Clarksville about 27 miles. We are always higher then SB by about 30 cents. But being a tourist town and being the only gas station in town they pretty much charge what they want. In the summer they make a killing with all the boats and CG's around the lake.
