Angry Dometic refrigerator

I have a Dometic refrigerator in my 2008 Georgetown. The frig will not remain cold when on electric power, but maintains temperature when running on LP. I have had it checked by one Dometic authorized tech. and he could not find any thing wrong with the fuses or heating element.

Any one have any suggestions?

Yeah, go to another tech.
There's something wrong with the AC side just like you thought.

Not much of a tech if all he knew to check was the fuses and heating element!!

I had the same problem, and found that under the outside cover, there is another metal cover to the left side that has 2 automotive glass style fuses- one is for the 120v side, and one is for the 12v side. I have blown the 120v side- 5amp fuse three times, so far. Yours is probably blown, as well. I have to remember to turn off the refrig. before connecting or disconnecting AC power to the camper. For some strange reason, this seems to be what is causing this to happen. GOOD LUCK!! Randy

I would suspect that the computer may be the culprit here if the element and fuses check good. The ECM board senses when you plug into AC and automatically is supposed to switch to 110V. If it is messed up somehow it may by trying enough to make the switch by turning off the LP side but not actuating the AC side. Have another tech check out the ECM board. Also, if you have the 4 door model as we do make sure that the center divider on the fridge (not freezer) doors is closing completely on the left door and that the right door makes a good seal. For the first few weeks I though ours wasn't working all that well but turned out that the center flap thing wasn't closing completely and thus the cold air could escape. We now close the left door first, make sure that flap is closed then close the right door so that we have a good seal and it works as it should.

Also one other very dumb and obvious thought but is it plugged in? On the ouside of the rig is a removable cover, inside the cover is the back of the fridge and there should be a 110V outlet here that the fridge plugs into, also the ice maker if so equiped. I would hope a tech would have checked this to begin with.
