Driving South for the Winter, No Pink Stuff Travel Log

Still in the 50's here in Massachusetts. We were going to drive to Florida with the RV after Columbus Day Weekend, but had it in the shop to repair the Kitchen Slide. Slide fixed, ready to go. Now it's time to pack up. I just need to find a day or two without rain to complete the packing. Low point drains are open for now just in case, but I will be in North Carolina by November 7th. So today starts my travel log, pre-trip and I will send updates and pictures for everyone's entertainment.

Today: RV is in the driveway. Three of the slides are out and all clothes are packed. I have (30) Bud Lights in the fridge, right next to the Starbucks double shot energy drinks. Five cans of Dinty Moore Beef Stew, several cans of Chef Boyardee, bread, peanut butter, jelly and plenty of candy, snacks and road food of my choice.

I've got plenty of FROG gifts and T-shirts packed for spring to deliver on our way back home to New England. This year I am making the trip solo just to get down, drop the RV off and back again.

Daily updates and commentation will be added.

Southwest Florida. Taking my time and should be there by Friday unless I leave earlier. Last overnight is in Gainesville then an easy last day to fort Myers. I need to leave time to get to the TV storage lot on arrival day.

Colonial country club. I was there a couple of weeks ago. Great weather when I was there. Where do you keep your RV?

I was thinking along the same lines - I'd expect a somewhat higher level of victuals in a Berc…

Safe travels, keep the shiny side up.

Pocahontas State Park is right next door and minutes off I95. South of Richmond. Enough hookups for an overnight, cheap, and secure. Pull thrus and water, No sewer though.

Still puzzled what a Columbus Day weekend might be. Columbus day was on a Monday, like always, but that's not part of any weekend I'm aware of. It's a work day. Unless you work for the government or post office. No weekend for the majority of us so stop rubbing in all those days off.

That's a nice spot. We have been there before. Maybe we will see you there some weekend over the winter. We keep the MOHO in a storage facility and use it on weekends and weekly trips over the winter. My trip starts Tuesday morning, with lots of places to see and miles to cover so stay tuned.

Driving South for the Winter, No Pink Stuff Travel Log

Finishing up some organizing, waiting for the rain to stop. Looks like Sunday is packing up day, since Saturday is mostly rain. Go to the Pats/Packers game Sunday night, get home at probably 2:30, get some sleep and work half a day.

Then, hook up the Jeep and go to sleep sometime Monday afternoon. Wheels up at 6:00 am Tuesday morning. And the adventure begins. Driving 1600 miles is a drag, unless you make it an adventure!

Hi Bobby, haven't talked to you in a while. I know. I was gonna do a few stops at Casinos but couldn't work it out with the schedule. Just stopping at KOAs on the way down. I'm trying to just get down there, put the MOHO in the storage facility and then play golf for six days and maybe do some painting on the inside of the house. Then fly back home on the 16th

The painting may interfere with your golf club grip, just a warning.

Got the RV all packed up today and ready to go. Left for the Patriots game around 2:00. Here is a little treat for all of the Red Sox fans. They showed up with the World Series Trophy at the Pats/Packers Game. This is just the first day of my adventure. Stay tuned. Click image for larger version
