Ford E-450 cockpit desk

Having gone from a Class A (FR3) to a Forester 3051 Class C, the one thing that I missed the most was a way to use the cockpit area for a desk when we're set up. The FR3 had the typical pull-out shelf in front of the passenger seat. With the Forester, the front seats couldn't become part of the living area - the driver's seat was a power, non-swivel seat, and the passenger seat couldn't fully swivel due to its proximity to the sofa but it can turn enough to face the driver's seat.

I solved the situation by building a simple platform desk out of a piece of 16 x 36 aspen. Two legs hold up one end, and the other end rests on the driver's side door. I put a small strip of wood on that end which slides down into the recess between the door and window, holding the desk in place. It's big enough to hold my laptop and printer, and the legs unscrew so the desk can be stored under the sofa for travels. And it doesn't block my dash cup holders!

Cool upgrade! Not blocking the cup holders is important.

Great mod Opelmel.......

However.....you might want to see about adding my mod to your mod. From what I see in your pictures, although you have the real estate for a laptop and printer.....I’ll bet it’s still quite a reach to the keyboard.

I already have the slides. I may or may not add the tray, depending on how it goes. I'm sure that my back will let me know whether or not to add it!
