Generac 4700-0 Overheats!
I have classic symptoms- Overheats with load at 100F or higher. I have measured the oil temp sensor with IR gun, shut-off switch fires at exactly 300F, which agrees with sensor rating.
I agree with conclusion before, THE EXHAUST IS TOO CLOSE TO OIL SENSOR! The amount of radiant heat from exhaust is huge. I am thinking that a heat shield needs to exist between exhaust and oil filter/sensor.
BTW, there is a lot of air flow internally, but the air movement near the exhaust /oil filter/ carburetor is minimal. Not sure why- I would expect this to be highest air flow, not lowest. Perhaps there is a problem with internal air seal or clog in intake grate? In any case, the air flow out is good and heat is coming out.
