If you put a better handle on the big door latch you would still have to slide open the slider in screen door but that original handle is a little hard to use when hands are full. Also, guest never 'get it' and grab the 'big 'handle' and therefore break the plastic latch. So I am also looking for something just a little bit better. BTW, that big handle is great when it is just the screen door that is closed and it also makes a great towel bar for drying towels that donít have any other place to dry.

I made this and it serves 2 purposes, one is to pull both doors shut when the screen is latched to the big door and if the big door is open, it releases the screen door latch by just pushing on it. Eliminates having to slide the door to get to the latch.

The problem is not the; screen door, it's the place on the latch of the big door that you pull that is hard for me to use.

Not awning pole cut off, buy that pre-cut. As for moving to New York, absolutely, positively, no way, no how would I even for a millisecond consider moving there. IF we ever moved, which we're not, it would be to FL.

I think I have the same problem ...that black handle to the outside door just does not want to close well from the inside & getting under it to open when the dog is excited to hit the great outdoors is just problematic ... hope someone has a good suggestion
