Insurance Prices

Who do you use for insurance and have your rates been going up. I have Progressive and went up again.

We have ours through American Family (along with our cars/truck and our homeowner's policy) and the rate actually went down significantly last year, compared to the prior year, on the same fifth wheel. We haven't gotten the bill this year, as we only pay it once a year, in the fall.

I have Progressive/USAA. Did get a $7 premium increase this year, but that was expected due to all the claims due to weather in the previous year. It's all relevant. The Insurance Company paid out millions in claims and they will spread their losses out to recoup funds by slight increase in everyone's premium. Last year my premium dropped $14. Funny thing about insurance, we all buy it, but hope we never have to use it.

I’m a USAA member, but ended up buying my insurance through Safeco. Saved $300 with a lower deductible and full replacement cost.

We switched to Westfield Group to cover everything when we bought the motorhome this year because our long-term provider would not cover anything over 35'. Whatev.

https://www.westfieldinsurance.com/i...ucts/rv/camper

They list two agents in your area:

Olsommer Clarke Insurance Group Inc
Westfield Rise Agency
Honesdale, PA 18431-1941570.253.6330

D R Bluhm Insurance Agency
Honesdale, PA 18431-1846570.253.0191

I attached the policy we received to review in case you're interested. They have a "layup" provision where if you know how many days a year you use the RV they will give you a discount for the times it's not used. Our agent said the days do not have to be consecutive.

Three years is about as long as you’ll have with any insurance company before they start sneaking in large rate increases. Then it’s time to shop around, get a lower rate, and start the rate creep process all over again.

The important thing is to keep an eye on the annual rates and bail out when the increase percentage gets too high. Don’t get complacent with your current insurance company.

LOL, NOT TRUE!
I've had State Farm since the day I started driving, I've checked around, no one comes close. We've had several claims, even a very large one on our home and they have been great to work with. And our premium decrease a little every year, NOT increase....

How long have you been driving? If over 20 years they should now be paying you to have it LOL.

Had progressive for 2 years, this year because of no claims there disappearing deductible dropped me to 250.00 but they raised my rates by 300.00. Just switched over to Nationwide which was 225.00 less than before the progressive increase with better coverage.

I've had GEICO for about 3 years.... My premium dropped $40/6 month this last time.
Erie wanted to charge me almost $2200/year for my 2 Jeeps and the Sunseeker.
With GEICO I am paying about $1200/year all for the same coverage.
Kind of a no brainer.

Guys thanks for the information! Never heard of Erie Insurance before. Just changed over our vehicles and also got the TT insured. Save a bit of money too...

we had everything with geico but they actually outsourced the homeowners to liberty mutual. this renewal the auto and trailer went down but the house went up. so i shopped around and rewrote everything with american family. i ended up with better auto insurance and better homeowners insurance for quite a bit less. the geico auto policy did not include glass replacement and the american family did. i had to pay about $300 last year to replace a windshield that geico wouldn't cover and american family would have. we'll have to wait to see how the renewals go. but each person's situation will be different.

My Progressive went from 202 bucks the first year, to 200 bucks with this renewal. I have a smaller TT, think I paid 17.6k for it

I priced progressive for my MH and they were far more money than who I have for my cars. By going with my car insurance (American Family) it was much cheaper than progressive and I have coverage for everything inside. I had progressive for my snowmobiles and they were cheaper for that, but not by much.

Whoever you get make sure you get coverage for contents inside the MH (I don’t know the actual term offhand) and make sure you get towing coverage for something as large as A MH!

The trailer portion of our policy was $98 thru Erie, I think the value was $17.1k or so. And, the policy on my SRT-4 includes a 3-month (Dec,Jan,Feb) timeframe that I can't drive the car, which I don't in the winter anyway, saved more doing that. The Progressive quote we got thru the dealer's agent ws $256.

YES! I noticed that on our policy, covers all the contents. Those power cables aren't cheap.
