Kaper II Lug Nuts - Use Impact?

Can I use an Impact on the lug nuts that hold the Kaper II wheel covers?

They're on so tight that the tool that came with our FR3 is just bending/twisting.

HOLD EVERYTHING

Only 3 of them come undone to remove the chrome wheel covers. The rest are attached to the covers and do not twist off.

If you look really carefully, you will see some small dimples on the sides of the three that come undone. I always put a little WD-40 on the threads when putting them back on.

Yeah, I know. Plus it helps that they made it so the supplied tool only fits those 3. I can't get them off by hand though, someone tightened the **** out of them.

Well then.....there's only one thing left to do, seeing as I don't know anyway to get lubrication in behind the lug nuts

Ya, we just got back form a trip and found some morewarranty work to have done. Maybe i'll let the dealer do it so if they **** it up they can replace them. lol

I asked Kaper.. They suggested spraying with WD40, wait 15-20 minutes and use a "serious" socket wrench not the toy that they provide. That did the trick. I did that with the 3 nuts on each wheel and applied lithium grease to the lug threads before putting the nuts back on. Not to worry about destroying a lug nut that is really locked on. Replacements are available from Kaper for a couple of bucks each.

Hi DennisSimon, just to be crystal clear on your quote above, you only applied grease to the threads holding the lug nut "covers" on and not to the lug threads that actually hold the wheel onto the RV? Is this correct?

Good to know, thanks for the advice! I'll give it a try this weekend. I'll have to go buy a socket big enough for them first.

Correct, I only greased the 3 lugs that are used by the lug-nut-covers. Not that greasing all would be harmful. In fact now that I think about it WD40 and grease on all the lugs is not a bad idea to facilitate future ture changes. Not that I ever plan on doing that myself. That's what Coach Net is for.
