Keeping rodents out of storage bays

We just purchased a 2018 Dynamax DX3. As I hooked up the water and electric I realized that we were providing a perfect access for mice, chipmunks and squirrels with the power cord and water hose passing through a 4 inch diameter opening in the floor of the bay. So I took a piece of rubber about 3/8 of an inch thick which I had trimmed off my Rock Tamer mud flaps, cut a hole the same diameter as the cord and cut a slit so that I could get it on the cord. Now it lays over the opening and blocks access to anything larger than an ant, if they become a problem I will have to deal with that separately.
