Low point drains

Anybody try putting ball valves on the low point drains in place of the screw on caps. It may prevent a unwanted shower.

Yes - just did this a couple months ago. Very useful and cheap mod.

Not yet. Only unscrew the low point drains when winterizing and the lines have usually been blown out before taking off caps. I will have to look at doing this mod which is a good one anyway.

So the water doesn't go skunky in the lines sitting in the driveway between trips, I usually open these drains, the freshwater tank drain and open all the faucets after dumping when leaving a campground. The airflow over the openings going down the road will suck all the water out.

I did this mod because a rock/road debris cracked off the low Hot cap and sucked the Hot water heater tank dry with all the minerals and it stained my Motorcycle trailer paint and diamond plate

Replaced both low point drains and FW tank Drain with ball valves.

I used pex ball valves from Amazon. Brass and well built
