magnadyne m4-lcd gps issue

Just picked up our Solera R (2014). The Owners Manual for the Magnadyne M4-LCD shows different pictures for the GPS system than what the actual screen shows.

When operating the GPS it shows I am starting from Houston (regardless of where you are).

The manual shows a second setting page with "GPS" one of the menu items on that page. (Page 26 of the owners manual). It states "sets up the connection to the GPS receiver:enabled: (with a checkmark shown) , Port 3 and baud rate 57600.

On the actual screen there is no such menu selection. Therefore I have no idea as to how to setup the GPS.

the software build is 8.3.5.199939

Can anyone help me with this?

Are you sure it is not showing Houston as the destination?

no it's showing Houston as the starting point. I put in a destination in NY State and another one later in PA and it calculated distance from Houston instead of where I was which was in NY State. Also when I looked at the "status" of the GPS there was no stats on any of the categories. Guess I will have to wait until Monday and call them.

Try rebooting the processor. Small point in the lower left corner facing the unit. Push it with a pen or paper clip.

I had some problems with mine also. Spent the weekend updating the software, maps and installed the satellite tuner. Everything works great now. I didn't care much for pulling the deck out to get to the SD card. Loading the Toolbox software was a breeze too!

Called Mark at Magnadyne. Problem is bad antenna. He said this has been ongoing issue of late. Others have called about it. Warranty issue.

He also said they updated their software and manual is out of date which is why screenshots don't match reality.

My head unit has the SD card slot on front to left of screen.

Hi, there is also a SD reader in back of the head unit that houses the SD card that contains the GPS and updates that you download with the Toolbox software. I've attached the manual which explains the process for you.
