Question Overhead Cabinets

The overhead cabinets in the slides of our motorhome are not very tall (about 7") and there are no "hold-opens" on the cabinet doors. When you try to get something out of the upper cabinets, you have to hold the door open with one hand while rumaging around inside the cabinet with the other.

I've tried installing mini-spring-loaded holdopens, but they are too long for the cabinets.

Has anyone experienced this same problem and have you been able to find a way to hold the door open while in the cabinet?

Maybe something like this. Poke around the net looking for cabinet hardware.

The easy and cheap way to do it is to take a small extension spring (5/16") about 6" long and screw one eye to the cabinet frame about 4-1/2" from the top then fully open the door and screw the other end to the door so it supports it open. The spring needs to be straight when the door is fully open. To close you just fold the spring with your finger.

Thanks for the input guys. I tried the curved lid stay on the site Richard D. suggested and they will work, but you need to put some extra blocking behind the cabinet frame in order to attach the lower part of the stay. I was thinking about the spring and may just give them a try. Thank you Bama Rambler.
