Saving Gas and Get Great Mileage
For those of us who tow a toad, I figured a great way to get better milage.
Have your better half get in the toad and start the engine. When you get up to speed, have her put the toad in gear and use it as a "pusher". Than just cruise merrily down the road.
I figure if my Lexi gets 8 mpg, and my Subi XV gets 30 mpg, thats 38 which would give me an average mpg of 19 mpg.
Of course, going uphill it would drop, but it'll make up for it when I go down hill.
On long flat's, just put the MH in neutral and let the toad push!
Think it'll work?

Some nosy cop will probably try to tell you it's against the law or something.

Saves on buying a supplemental brake unit too, and no arguing over radio stations.

My wife blames my great ideas on the fact that i'm retired, and have waaaay to much time on my hands.
I put this idea in the same catagory as keeping the turn signal valves well oiled and the muffler bearings in tip top shape.

This ranks right up there with the "have the wife travel in the TT and be cooking dinner, so it's ready when we get there".
This forum is crazy today.!

Did you ever use the chrome reverse muffler bearings? Need no lube.

The only problem is that if your wife is like mine she would probably notice the quick release running to the cab!
Go ahead set the cruise and take a nap honey, it is not like you have to steer.

I only use sealed muffler bearings, never need to grease em.
However the turn signal valves have to be lubed with a hard to find oil. Available only at old Army-Navy stores. Usually stocked between the cosmoline remover and the recycled GI jock straps (large). Have looked everyplace else for it but, no luck. If you do find it, buy all you can.

The View
Keep in mind the sled driver's view doesn't change much either, so the best job is always the lead dog.

DB Travelers - Your comment reminded me, immediately, of the Budweiser commercial of several years ago with the couple in the sleigh and the gassy horse.

Ah yes! Too funny! Bud has had some really great commercials over the years. I kind of miss the lizzard ones, and Spud.
