Storage facilities

I was just looking at another option for storage of my Berkshire and spoke with a gentleman today about storing in his place. He said that he was exploring the possibility of adding indoor storage for rv's (motorhomes/5ver's and travel trailers) He just is in the process of finishing a building that would have four 20X55 bays, heated, 14 foot doors, security, insulated and with a walkout door access to each unit. Building construction is top notch and he wants to get $450/month. He's also considering a future place to wash the rv's and a dump station. I think it will do well because it has close freeway access and there is nothing else like it in the area. Just wondering what others are looking for when considering inside storage and what prices work for you? Do you care about heated storage or just a secure covered bay? Also, if anyone goes to a place that has facilities to wash your RV, what are they like? Cost, amenities, and expectations of time to complete wash. Do you need an appointment. I would love to see this thing fly, but understand the caution that the owner faces before incurring a large cost. What are your ideas?

We store ours in a 45x60 space, heated with water, $500 per month. Right now my dad and I are looking at buying 2 acres and building a large building, 1/2 for is and 1/2 to rent. We really want to add waste dump.
Nothing better than keeping your investment stored inside.

Wow, great price. Could definitely handle two coaches with that size. What state are you in?

If you were using your rig occasionally during the winter it would be nice to have it heated. It would nice be able to jump in and go without having it winterized.

Seriously? We are in MN where it will fall to -30 and our Forester MBS 2401R will be outdoors at $72/mo. I could get indoor ambient temp parking basically two minutes from home for $150/mo. but turned it down as not needed. Maybe Berkshires needs special TLC and also if you want to keep it wet to get up and go that's also quite different. That wouldn't really work here as an hour or two out in sub-zero would ice things up pretty fast before we made it to the Iowa border. 😨

Even though I store year round inside, mine goes into winter storage in October and I do winterize. I bought this coach new with it being part of my retirement plan and want to keep it in the best shape that I can. Which for me means inside storage. I have stored cars outside and covered, but the weather still takes its toll.

We store multiple things in our unit, not just the RV. But I know it will last longer out of the weather. I guess like everything it is personal preference.

I pay $50 a month for inside cold storage in rural MN. Will be keeping the new one inside year round. Figure $50 is cheap to keep the trailer looking new for years to come.

I store our MH at a local U-Haul facility. It is a gated lot with video recording, a 25X12 foot concrete parking space, with overhead cover. $85 a month with one month free when paid annually.

Anything bigger than our MH goes "downstairs" to their lower lot which is gravel. 45X15 foot slot with overhead cover is $130 a month.

Built myself a large pole building. Still waiting on the concrete floor/insulation and heat/ac to go in but it's almost there.

64x40 for the main building and 40x12 for the office attached.

4 x 10x8ft Rollup doors
1 x 14x14ft Rollup door

16' Ceilings

Will have water drains for washing indoor. 200amp service to the garage - hookups for the RV (water + power). Running out of time here to get it done before the hard freezes set in. I hate winterizing.

I pay $70 per month for covered storage. The front is open toward the east but there is a wall on the south and west, so the RV only has sun for a few hours. Most places including where I store are $40 per month for outside storage.

I just make sure I have a long list of repair items for them to work on over the winter.
They keep it there, and I don't pay!

I must admit, I've got it pretty good. My MH gets stored in a RV "condo" that I bought several years ago. My holding costs are less than $75/month for taxes, dues, power and gas and I can store a few other items in there too.Click image for larger version
