UV can only damage the tire surface not the structure. Excess heat can damage the entire tire structure, like belt rubber.
Here is my data and info on the real damage done from excess heat.

I'm thinking using tire shades will be more beneficial to the life of the tire than tire covers... I see tons of rigs with black tire covers and I firmly believe that a black cover serves only to increase the temperature of the tire instead of actually protecting it... Soooo - I'm having some tire shades made for my coach.... Same material used for the solar screens I use on the front.....

I see no reason there tire shads would work better than my White tire covers !!!
Better looking maybe,,, easier to store maybe,,, cost more maybe ???
What I see is a chance to forget them and try to drive away with them still on !!!
LOL !!!

Not sure what a tire shade looks like, but... "Easier to put on" would garner my vote.

It's not putting them ON, it's connecting the back to keep them on. I have to crawl under the TT on my back.

All I know is......Tireman said to cover with light colored covers and DO not use petroleum based products on them. Good enough for me.

I quit attaching the covers with the bungie cord doohickey. I just use tire chocks to secure both ends. Works well, even in heavy wind. But I do have the heavy rubber tire chocks from harbor freight.

So you have 8 (maybe 4) tire chocks? I've got 2.
I used to have tire covers that covered both tires on a side, but snow and ice would get the valley between the tires and drag them off the tires, even with the doohickey's attached. So now I have single tire covers.
So if I held them with chocks, I'd need 8 chocks.

Ah..... We don't have to worry about snow here but maybe every 10 years. So we use the double tire covers and 4 chocks. But you can catch a sale at harbor freight and catch those really good, heavy chocks for $5 a piece

2 years! You should see your tire dealer and get an adjustment. If they decline then ask for something in writing that states there is absolutely nothing wrong with the tires.

You need to replace MH tires every 5-7 years anyways, doubt covers would do much in that time frame unless it's sitting in the direct sun at all times.

Yes for tire covers. I don't have 47 yrs experience, but have been the victim of a rear dually tire blowout and the damage it does to the coach. Take care of your tires!
