Should not need the "converter". Your rig will already have one...standard equipment. Converts the electric from 110 to 12 volt.
Posssibly you might mean an inverter. Inverter converts 12 volt to 110 so you can run appliances like ac, microwave, ect. Needed if you have a solar setup.
Unless you plan on dry camping or boondocking, you won't need one right away. If your stays will be at campgrounds with electricity, your factory converter is all you need.

I meant converter plug .... For plugging into shore power at home to charge batteries and such.

FW hose tip: buy two 25' hoses instead of a 50 footer.
Makes putting it out and away easier IMO.

Also, make sure you have necessary tools to change a tire, such as a 4 way lug wrench etc. (or have a roadside assistance plan)
Bottle of Clorox cleaner - To spray and de-contaminate hose bib before hooking up your fresh water supply hose. You never know what the previous camper hooked up to that hose bib. 
As previously posted by another forum member, you'll need some way to store your water hoses and supplies and your stinky slinky. You'll need separate storage bins for those.

Top 5 things needed for a new RV ...
If you don't want to spend on the surge protector at least get an inexpensive continuity tester
I have dedicated an entire storage box to tools and fix it supplies (everything mentioned above)
I got a little tool chest at Loews that has just about everything could ever need and it's the size of a big shoe box
Borrowing tools is a good way to meet the neighbors but I prefer to lend the tools to meet the neighbors then you might get cookies or beverages

Went to Camping World and spent a little over $300 and the Walmart for another $125. Maiden adventure starts in the morning!

Not too bad. I always felt bad when I went into CW and couldn't seem to get out the door for less than $200; too many fun things. Then I met a couple in Wyoming last year that went in to CW and left with a new 42' Cardinal 5er! Said they just fell in love with it when they saw it and traded in their old, worn-out,  2013 5er on the spot. Transferred their possessions to the new unit and were off. Kind of...  Their current TV wouldn't pull the new rig, so he went to town and bought a new 2015 3500HD SRW Chevy. Both had paper dealer tags on them. I feel much better about my shopping trips now!

Ouch .... My pockets are not that deep! They must be tuff on campers if a 2013 was worn out!

I don't think it was worn out actually; they just loved the new front living Cardinal when they saw it (me too). I KNOW my pockets are not deep enough for impulse buying all of that at one time! About $125,000! I guess I can't point fingers too much as we are selling our 2014 Wind Jammer next year (in perfect condition and upgraded) and buying a 40'+ 5er also. We intend to start traveling for extended periods after I retire and found the WJ just didn't have the storage for that type of use. We knew we also had to buy a bigger tow vehicle, so we did that this year and bought a 3500HD GMC crew cab diesel dually. Probably same $$ in the end, but we are spreading it over two years and planning every dollar spent.
By the way, upgrading isn't that far from normal according to RVIA, their recent survey says 21% of current RV owners intend to upgrade. RVIA article click HERE.

I flew into Des Moine, Iowa to take delivery. Packed a large suitcase for sheets, towels, etc... Then I went to Walmart and walked out with two full shopping carts. Then alot more at Camping World. I never realized how much stuff (and money$$$) is needed for that first RV!!

May a good misting fan for those HOT days.. HD has one that fits on a homer bucket or a hose conx.
Propane fire ring... Amazon has some nice ones... we have one and love it.
A good pillow and a new mattress.
