Our beer and whiskey is 10X better than the US, sure, it IS more expensive, but it's still better

Don't forget to let your credit card company know where you are travelling. If they start seeing purchases made in far away places, they may cancel the card on the assumption that it's been stolen. That applies anyway, whether or not you cross the border.

I had mine cancelled a couple of times just here in the USA. Now we always call, to let them know we are traveling. Big Brother is watching they don't want to be stuck with the bills. I also never use my ATM, then it's my lost.

  • Relax its Canada – a lot like the US only more people are polite and some have a French accent
  • Remember it’s not the United States, it is a sovereign country with its own rules. Behave yourself, you are now a US Citizen in a foreign land, represent us well (I have seen UGLY Americans, don’t be one)
  • Bring your Passport, Car papers (registration & insurance) and papers for your pets (shots)
  • Bring your health insurance card but be prepared to use a credit card in an emergency (true anywhere outside the US)
  • If you are taking any medications take them in the original bottles (or have the originals), bring your prescriptions. If you have insulin needless/sharps warn customs before they search bags – it’s only polite.
  • ATMs give a good exchange rate, get a credit card that does not have a foreign transaction fee
  • No other country in the world has the gun freedom or gun violence of the US, don’t leave home with them (hunting rifles with license are an exception) – read up before you go if you carry firearms.
  • Anything else that is designed as a weapon (Bear Sperry) – Declare it
  • You are limited on how much alcohol and tabaco you can bring across the border (both directions), don’t even think about illegal drugs!
