Winterizing Class C MotorHome

Looking for rvers experience on winterizing a motorhome or rv. Which is better, using RV antifreeze or blowing out your system with air?

I blow mine out 3 times till there is no mist and,put RV antifreeze in the traps and enough to cover both gates. Put the water filter in a bag in the home reefer. This way since 2012.

Why would blowing out with air be an option. When it takes 10 minutes and less than $10 to winterize with Anti- freeze . Tried one year with air . Cost me $350 to have piping fixed . Have been camping for over 50 years I learned the hard way.

And a desirable side effect of winterizing with antifreeze is that it fills the traps.

We live in Western Washington, a block from Puget Sound, so it rarely gets very cold, for an extended time. So I just drain the tanks, blow out the lines and put antifreeze in the toilet/p-traps.

Thanks for the info. I've winterized for years using RV antifreeze without any issues till this year. Just got ready to un-winterize my rig and found the water filter canister cracked and came off. No one ever suggested winterizing and then removing the water filter canister for the winter. Must have been a bead of water on the canister threads when I screwed it back on and it cracked during the winter freeze and fell off. Learn something new all the time.

Had that happen to me once. Dry both threads real good now!

I I also empty the canister into the toilet when done, so any expansion into it will not cause damage.

My filter was frozen and damaged that way when I got my camper . The guy that had it before me blew it out with air. After ordering a new filter Carthage case . I got tried of moping up under filter in cabinet . And bypassing To winterize renoved all of the filter on inside and use an external filter, much cheaper and a whole lot less trouble. I have a whole filter assembly if some one would want to pay shipping would give it to them .
