2017 F-150 Ecoboost with 10 spd

Anyone here try or buy the new Twin Turbo ecoboost with the new 10 spd electronic transmission. What are your thoughts?

I love my 3.5eb with the 6 speed. I would imagine the extra torque and gears would make it it even better. If you plan on getting on be sure to get the 36 gallon fuel tank!

Yea I enjoy the pulling power of the EB, but I would give it a year to make sure the new trans and engine design is not a bust.

Yes, 10 gears, 3 are o/d can downshift up to 6 gears if needed. Will have 3 shift patterns sport, fuel economy, tow/haul. First gear is almost as low as reverse and 10 is more than 1.6 I will need to review the video training again to get more specifics. It was built with cooperation from GM.. I kinda wonder if it really is not the same trans as used in the corvette.. the overall length is supposibly just slightly longer than the 6r80. The trans is all clutches without any bands which should give great durability. Same trans will also be offered in the Raptor only for now.

Here are the gear ratios, dang pic not showing ,,, ok
R.. 4.85
1.. 4.69
2..2.98
3..2.15
4..1.77
5..1.52
6..1.28
7..1.00
8.. 0.85
9.. 0.69
10.. 0.69
Sounds like a stump puller, only has one mechanical one way clutch. The rest are normal clutches, sorry I was off on the shift selection it will have tow/haul, select shift and a manual 1, and man 2 but shifter itself or what we call the prndl will only indicate p,r,n,d,m.... tow/haul button will allow cycling between select shift and tow/haul...

I have a 2013 F-150 Titanium Ecoboost with Max tow package. I traded the 18EC for a 24WAB this summer. It is 30 feet Vs 20feet and is 7850 pounds empty. That is 2000 more plus I am hauling a Can Am Spider. Pretty close to 10,000 loaded.
My TV is fine with it but trans is running about 205 degrees here in AZ on the level and gets up to 230 on the steep climbs. Engine runs very cool and has enough power but think the transmission is working too hard.

2013 F-150 transmission running hot

Have you tried replacing the transmission fluid with full synthetic? I have a 2004 F150 5.4 V8 Triton which I used to haul a TT through Arizona and Utah visiting the wonderful national parks there. Ran like a dream.

It's unlikely that the trans is the same as the one used in the Vette. The trans in the Corvette is mounted in the rear of the car, and I believe it is an 8 speed unit. The manufacturers are using more efficient transmissions so they can continue to meet rising MPG requirements imposed by the Federal Govt ..... big brother is watching us; one and all!!

I am seriously considering it, but there are none available yet, at least in my part of the country. I'm anxiously awaiting the pricing and towing specs!

Synthetic oils definitely have their advantages (which I won't argue here) especially in transmissions and rear ends where the fluids are often not replaced regularly (or even looked at) compared to engine lubrication.

Not being a GM guy, I did not know but I do know that both GM No Ford worked together on this venture

Correct. The first vehicles getting the new 10-speed are the 2017 Camaro ZL1 and the 2017 F-150 EcoBoost 3.5L. In 2018 the Ford Mustang plus Expedition and other GM vehicles get it. Ford lead the design effort for this 10-speed for high-power RWD vehicles. GM and Ford are collaborating on another transmission, a 9-speed for FWD. GM is lead in design for the 9-speed. This 10-speed for RWD has been extensively tested , so I would not worry about it. Here's the 10-speed in action:

x2 as mine only came with the 23 gal tank and when towing, I have to fill up every 2.5 hrs of driving. The only plus is that is gets us out of the truck to stretch our legs and give us a break.

Also changed on the 2017. The EB engines are hybrid direct Injections setups. The change is supposed to cure the carbon buildup issue that can occur on direct injection engines. DI has no fuel in the intake port to clean the back of the intake valves.

I have a 2013 EB with the six speed with requires synthetic as standard. Mercon LV is the recommended. I changed the ATF at 50,000 at BrakeMax. Checked yesterday and the replacement fluid was synthetic also.
