Never rely completely on the manufactures bare bones minimum recommendations. These are to sell vehicles and compete with other brands.

Of course I don't have a clue what you consider ''anything of size or weight" but I'm pretty confident I'm not going to change my mind with my trailer...freeway speeds and cross winds are one handed with minimal corrections. Just set the cruise and enjoy the ride.
1500 on the hitch and the rear of my truck is still high...adjust the trailer for level and good to go.
Don't take the manufactures word for anything...It's not hard to understand why there is a difference between long wheel base requirements and short wheel base requirements as it pertains to wdh. Do the math for yourself.

I don't remember exactly but the effect on the front axle for my setup was something under 400lbs and that was before calculating the load I added forward of the rear axle. Then you add the weight of the humans calculated by distance forward the rear axle...
