FWIW when I spoke to an engineer at forest river (regarding another issue) they told me when I asked about adding cables to my 275ulsbs to make the ramp a patio the standard ramp is not rated to hold weight by just adding the cables on the side. When the option for a patio ramp door is added, the door is built differently so the sides where the cables attach to can handle the concentrated load.

Thanks for the information, but I am not so sure that the manufacturer of the door actually changes the construction of the door frame for a patio door. Lippert Components makes these doors and other than the added hardware, I cannot see their manufacturer process being different between a "standard" door and a patio door, but it is possible. Since these doors are rated for up to 5,000# without buckling, I guess we will take our chances with the added 400# of concentrated weight.

The ultra hauler doors are only rated for 2600 lbs all other models use the door rated for 5000 lbs. apparently that's where the difference lies. I'm pretty sure either door would be fine to use for a few people eating dinner or such thou

I am not sure what model years the specs you're reading are for, but the current line of 2016 Ultra's feature 4,000# ramp doors .... quoted directly from Forest River's website .... "4,000# Ramp Doors on FRP and Ultra Series".

HHHmmmm? 2600 lbs would equal four 650 lb people.... I think that would work just fine for a few "regular" sized people.

Mine is a 2013 and I read it out of the owners manual. If the newer ones have the heavier rated door then that's perfect!
