Bad 7000# AL-KO axles

If you have AL-KO axles on your trailer, check out the welds ASAP. This is my Forrest River toy hauler that I carry the drag car in. It has two 7000# axles and a hauling payload of 5500#. The trailer is 2 years old and has less that 12,000 miles on it. Coming home from the track I felt a vibration and a bump and loss the entire wheel assembly. Luckily it was in a rural area and on the passenger side so no one was killed. Upon investigation, AL-KO missed the weld interface between the axle tube and the 4" drop extension. Only 2 small areas were holding them together. So far, AL-KO refuses to replace this axle. Also, the expense of a aluminum wheel, 2 new tires and the repair to the trailer. I know that this weld was done by a machine, and with a bad set up that could turn out a hundred be for it caught. Please check your axles, and re-weld to be safe...
