Best place to buy a replacement front cowling?

The starboard front cowling that covers the LP tank departed the camper on a single lane road with no shoulder or turn around area yesterday. We couldnít stop, or go back for it, so I need to find a new one. The latches broke off I guess cause I always check the cowling before we go on a trip. We didnít buy locally so I need to source it.

If you post your make and model someone might have what you are looking for or know a good source.

It is visible in your signature online (web application). If you're using an iPhone or Android with the FR App, it's not readily visible.

There ahould be lables on all of your compartment doors. Take measurements and call the company that made the other doors and ask them. Likely they were bought all from the same company

Try Bontrager's RV Surplus in White Pigeon, Michigan (bontragers.com) just across the state border from Elkhart IN where most RVs are built. They have several large warehouses of RV parts - everything from exterior panels to cabinet doors....millions of things. Almost all of it is new stuff; extras and leftovers from manufacturing process. Probably largest surplus business in the industry.

You can call work and play directly. That's what I did when mine did the same. They even set it to me for free cause it was under warranty.

Or just call the factory's parts department and tell them what you have and they will take care of you. They have been helpful to my brother.

If you are talking about the little flap/access panel so you can open up the tanks...

You can order them from Walmart.com and pick it up at the closest store to your house.

Or you can have it shipped directly to you...

Thanks everyone. I didnít think to check the warranty angle. The clips holding the panel on actually broke off, a few are still there. I bought the 2 year warranty, might as well try that first. They really need a better attachment system for those panels.

No Iím talking about the big black cowling which attaches via fasteners.

I sent an email to the warranty parts department. I will let everyone knows how it goes.

The big black cowling covering the whole front half is $30? From Walmart? I think we are talking about 2 different things.

Nope...

I was thinking that you were talking about the standard LP tank covers on most TT's.

This is where photos come in handy!

Now we know what you were talking about.

Here's a comment I made on an old thread that talked about the cowlings and other things...this is to save you from having to wade thru the 'other things'

"I have a 2017 30WRS with 3 cowling pieces - the one in the middle is for the generator, the other two, cover the propane tanks. They are held in with
Southco 19 Series Swell Latch 2.48 Handle Length, Frame Thickness .05 and Up. When I picked up the TH, the final check must have missed that they were not installed correctly. Lost the center one at highway speed, just below Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Luckily, did not hit anyone or break or get run over, and we put it back on and tightened the others. After getting home I called the dealer, they sent me a full package (I also bought a package at Amazon for extras). Then we figured out someone had not stacked the washers correctly in the latches...fixed that and have been traveling since October 8th with no more problems. It's a good system when it's applied correctly. Think I have some of the extras assembled with the washers - could do a picture if you'd like.

Have now been full time traveling in all but the worst of winter (spent in AZ). Since rethinking the way the latches were stacked I've not had one problem with them....other than people who think they are helping me want to unscrew the latches to take the cowling off. Grrrr. I check them every trip before I head down the road. Glad FR was responsive to your issue.

Thanks for this! Good info. I like having that part number for the latches. Do you have a picture of the latch washers installed correctly so I can double check my camper?

The cowling and the swell latches arrived from the factory. They don’t have the holes predrilled so we have to drill new holes. The bad thing is a dove has made a nest in the middle compartment with two eggs. We are taking the camper on a long trip at the end of June. I would hate to have hatched baby doves on board with the mother dove left behind in Florida. I am going to try to relocate the nest before the eggs hatch, but it’s probably a lost cause.
