The problem is the trailers wiring. To work correctly it needs a basically straight run from dish to receiver. Just bite the bullet, buy some good quality RG6 coax, dish/direct approved connectors and run a dedicated line. Not difficult, but does take some time and planning to make it look right. I placed a screw down connector inside in a good place, ran a single coax from there to where I wanted the wall plate. Using a household style wall plate to terminate the coax. Then its a matter of a short jumper. Using direct approved connectors which you can buy at HD or Lowes plus the crimping tool is fairly cheap and with a little practice are easy to do.
