Dumb question

The very first trip we took with our TH I loaded it up with everything, including a full freshwater tank and drug it roughly 400 miles. My friends who have camped for some time now tell me that was silly and that I should wait till I get almost to where I'm going then find a source of water and fill the tank for primitive camping. My dumb question is this, where's a good or typical place to get 80 gallons of water? SMDH

Some areas of the US have (Limited Water) so it would Really Help if we knew where you were going! Youroo!!

I always fill up with water regardless of where we're heading. I know, I know, I'm carrying extra weight with the water but I feel that if a little less gas milage results, no big deal! I do not like running out of water on the road or fussing around trying to find water when we arrive at our destination, it's a real irritant.

Ditto, sorta. If we are going to a campground with hookups, then I just carry enough water to flush our toilet and wash our hands. If we are traveling to a campground without hookups, I fill the tank.

Also, my home supply is a trusted water source.

the gas consumption is nominal (you may not even notice it) sense you will only be hauling about 300 lbs additional. Better keep some water just in case.....

I agree and that's my plan too but I was just wondering if I was just being anal and if others filled up closer to their destination and if so where they find water. Like I said, dumb question 8)
