Our New 2016 Work & Play Ultra 25ULA Comes Home ...

Our new hauler ... traded our 2013 Work & Play 18EC and ordered this 2016 Work & Play Ultra 25ULA. She arrived at the dealer Wednesday and we picked her up Saturday .... literally 4-1/2 weeks from the order date.

Nice but why do they call it a WORK and PLAY? If I may ask.

My new 2014 30wr was been all work and no play so far. I`ve replaced the axle seals and brakes so far. Coated the plywood walls where the wheel wells are cut out. Coated the wheel wells also. Caulked around the entry door. Big gap there , moldings there @ the bottom wasn`t even nailed . Haven`t even hooked it up to water or electric yet. Hope they work ok . Hope your is ready to roll.

Had a great time with our 2013 18EC for two years with no issues. All systems checked and operating on the new one and ready to go. I guess there are always bad apples in every bunch. Sorry to hear you have had bad luck with yours.

CONGRATS!! May you have far less issues with you new WP25ULA than we did :/
Love the floor plan... think about getting a tongue jack that will lift MORE weight.

Our is less than two years old and the tongue jack broke! while camping!!

Also watch our for exposed water pipes... they freeze in winter... we have the Arctic Package too.

... it is unfortunate you have had so much trouble. I have read several of your posts. We just got back from a weekend rally and all went well ... fingers are crossed that all remains well.

It's been nearly a year Brian. How is it and is it still trouble free?

We still love it and it is still trouble free. We have done ten rallies last year since it came in, four so far this year since March and we have fifteen more sheduled this year.

We have electric levelers and controller with a wireless remote waiting in the garage ready to mount next weekend. We have added a high-dollar home-style bed mattress, LCD TV, stick-on backsplash in the kitchen and bathroom to replace the "wallpaper" style, bedroom door full-length mirror, patio door setup, an additional OEM light in the bathroom with a few more to install throughout and motion activated LED strips under the bed, in the closets and in the cargo space.

My biggest issue is keeping the weight distribution hitch chain brackets from bending. I have added the new-style chain brackets that Reese released, but they still bend. Part of that might be from backing into my driveway without dropping the bars ... we have a curvy driveway, but I will just live with it and replace the brackets as necessary. It is a very nose-heavy toy hauler with the Onan 5500 up front and uses every bit of the Reese setup's rating of 1,700# TW.

Sounds like you have done a lot with it. Glad to hear you are still enjoying with no problems. My only concern is the hitch weight with this unit. I have a GMC 2500 with 6.0 gas. I know it can just very front heavy on TH.

I do not know what model year your 2500HD is, but you have to do your homework about your tow vehicle with this model. The premise of a TH is a heavier TW than a TT to allow increased payload for "toys" reducing the TW when loaded. This model has the bedroom and generator up front and the water between the axles and the "toy box" in the rear so with my Streetglide in the rear it does offset the TW somewhat, but it is still tongue heavy. The GVWR of the TH and GCVWR of the 2500HD is not an issue, it is the TW vs. the truck's rated cargo weight and the TW capacity of the OEM hitch that you must look at. We happen to be "legal" tow'ers to be sure we are protected. We do not exceed the truck's rated cargo weight, replaced the 1,500# TW rated hitch with a 2,700# TW rated hitch and use the Reese 1,700# Straight Line WD and a Reese 1,700# shank.

... this is what it takes to legally tow this kind of TW.

I have the class 5 hitch and would put the sway setup on too.

It's between the 25 WAB and Wolfpack 24 for me. Like them both but feel the WP is tougher.

I'm new to TT/TH world. Learning before I jump. Thank you for all the input.

Note that not all Class V hitches are rated the same. The 2015 2500HD OEM hitch is a Class V rated 2-1/2" receiver and it only has a TW rating of 1,500#. The Ford F250 SD Class V rated receiver is only rated at 1,400# TW at last it was in 2013. Like I said, you must do your homework if you want to tow legally.

Definitely look at the TH's before you choose. Even if you have to drive a distance just to look, it is important to look at these in person before you decide. For us, the Work & Plays are basically an enclosed-style cargo trailer unlike the other manufacturer's that are more like a TT made into a TH. It's a preference thing.

Hello Brian. I believe we both bought our 18EC's about the same time. I just bought a new 2017 25WAB. Have not towed it yet and hoping the F-150 Eco-boost is still good for the job. Was great on the 18EC. Hitch weight is within 60# but 1600 lbs more weight. Will probably have to go to a WD hitch The F150 EB has sway control that worked well on the 18EC. We will see. Picking it up on Tues. the 31st. Thanks for all your input. I do have airbags and heavy duty towing package with twin turbo's.

Brian, was wandering which Reese WD hitch you installed? Even with sway control on the truck I would still need to install. Did not need it on the 18EC as the sway control worked great.
