Rim and tire size differences

I recently bought 5 Maxxis 225/75 15 tires for the Work and Play trailer I thought I would keep for a while. Well, now after 300 miles we decided to buy a new trailer (Fun Finder 276 toy hauler).

The new trailer comes with 205/75 15 "C" tires. I want to put my Maxxis 225/75 15 "E" on the new trailer. Of course the lug patterns are different so I can't just swap.

My question is can I put the 225/75 on the 205/75 rims? I haven't measured yet but I believe the new rims are 5 1/2" wide vs 6". Is there a problem with this switch?

I really don't want to give the dealer my brand new Maxxis tires.

Your rim size is 15".So therefore,235/75/15 will fit your rim as you can mount a 15" tire on a 15" rim.Depending on what your putting them on i.e. truck or small car or camper be sure you have fender clearance.

In reality your difference in tires is only 20mm. I would suggest if your really tight on room with the stock tires that you mount up one and put it on to see and check for fitment. The difference in rim width is like Les said 1/2" which is 1/4" on each side wider on the rim. If you were to put one tire beside the other sitting on the ground you probably would notice much of a difference.
