sound only with dvd not regular tv

When watching a movie or listening to radio the sound comes out of all speakers throughout trailer, but if just watching regular tv with antenna it only comes out of tv speaker ... is this right? I tried turning the dvd/radio on and going to different modes but that didn't work.

Not really sure what system you have, but mine did the same thing when I got it. Turns out they audio feed from the TV was never plugged into the back of the receiver.

Without knowing what system you have, try radio on HDMI ARC , then turn on TV. Radio first....then TV !

There may be a few seconds delay prior to stero sound.

Let us know if you get it working!

While it is important to know the exact equipment to properly help you, our Toshiba TV was modified with baseband (red/white) audio outs and they run to the Aux on the RCA house amp/tuner/dvd player. That special cable runs through a balun to help screen out interference. Another note: we loose signal on the TV when running the microwave.

Mine is the same way, only the stereo\DVD is hooked up to the speakers. So if you want to play your tv sound through the speakers you need to run a wire from your tv to the aux input on your DVD unit if you have one.

On my TV I had to set the TV Audio output to Aux. then set the radio to play via Aux.

Do you have Audio Out Jacks on the tv? If so, they must be plugged into the Audio In Jacks on the radio, and radio source set to AUX. The wall mounted Jacks (red and black) should already be connected to the Audio In of the radio, so try connecting to those.

Edit: HDMI only feeds from radio to tv, not the reverse.

I would add that you also have to set the TV audio output (volume) high enough that it will drive the AUX inputs. The signal level has to be enough for the amplifier to have enough to work with.

Additionally, I found that there is a setting on the TV menu that will output through the "audio out" outputs. I had to play with it until I found the right combination. Your mileage may vary

TV Sound

If you haven't figured it out yet look on your TV remote for a button names 'source' or 'input' and press that. Choose TV or one of the other settings and see if that works.

Have you ran those audio out cables as I detailed in post #8? You have to have cables to take the sound from the tv to the radio.

This is only way I've gotten it to work too. Had to run wire from headphone port on back of TV to front aux port on radio.

If connected to audio out on tv and audio in on radio, and radio set to AUX, then I'm out of suggestions. Sorry.

On my system, I had to turn the tv speakers to off; then turn off the automatic volume control. This activated the tv audio out. Then I sourced the TV on the receiver/soundbar. Then the TV sound came out of the soundbar. Worth a try on your system.
