Spray Foam Underbelly

I see Forest River is offering a spray foam underbelly on the newer four season units. Anybody got one? I would like so see some pics of the underbelly to see what it looks like.

That's a first, which unit is it? I would like to see that. As far as spray foam underbelly, I would think that it would cause a problem if anything went wrong. How would you get to it? That would incase everything. I would think it would be a nightmare tiring to repair a leak or something, plumbing, electrical, heating and all. Wondering how they can do that? FR has never made a true 4 season unit before that I know of.....

When I was on the great interweb I saw a couple of dealers selling W&P with a foam underbelly and weather package? I guess if anyone has a 2014 or 2015 with a weather pkg needs to crawl under there trailer and tell us what they see. Piks would be nice...

And this you found under FR units on the internet? Also was it a spray foam, or sheeted? I just can't see how they can use spay form that expands. Interesting to say the least.

In the last two RVs I had was foamed around all the pipe fittings. It was used to seal the under belly openings and it could look like it was all filled with foam with the excess dripping out.

Speculation, but they could put a very thin layer of plastic sheeting like they use in packing and spray the foam and then cover with the coroplast.

I think there is no such thing as a true four season RV unless your in Key West. Some are better in cold weather than others but can you travel, stop, park, and have full use of it at 10 degrees in the winter?

Well here is the foam answer, all they spray are the holding tanks, This is not a 4 season trailer, If they sprayed the underbelly you couldn't ever make a repair. See attached from the salesman. It's hard to read but his email is "the spray foam is around the tanks" So FR still doesn't make a true 4 season trailer unless you live in Florida. As Eland pointed out.

Work and Play will never be a 4 season trailer using it's present construction technique. The FRP walls are 3/4" plywood with a fibreglass layer on the outside, and 1/8" paneling for looks on the inside. The R value of the wall is less than R-1 according to the Plywood Manufacturers Association website. They would have to add at least 2" of some sort of insulation material to the wall, defeating the entire reason for making an FRP trailer.
The roof has 4" of fibreglass insulation, about an R-9 value. None of the plumbing is isolated completely from freezing temps on outside runs.
I live full time in this 34FK. I just move it to central TX in the winter. Problem solved.

Went in to a RV Dealer today that sells the Work and Play and they had four units on the lot. All of them had spray foam underbelly. The entire underbelly is spray foamed. I give Forest River a A for effort but it is Darn ugly. Spaying the foam even with the frame rails and the trimming excess or even using black spray foam would be a much nicer looking installation. I also read that to complete the package for the Work and Play they use thin insulation before putting the inside wall paper on and dual pane windows... They would not let me pull back the wall paper but I don't think the wall insulation amounts to much but more than just the FRP siding by it's self.

My 2015 Wildcat MAXX has an enclosed undercarriage and the pipe openings are foamed. If you cut away any of the undercarriage material you'll find it has a insulation layer bonded to the underlay. The tanks are "heated" by a furnace run which does dump some amount of hot air into the enclosed undercarriage area when the furnace is running. Not exactly a 4 season solution to cold weather, but better than nothing!

More care or the method should be improved. You can see in picture one that a big chunk of foam is getting ready to fall off of the holding tank..

There are many engineering changes that would have to be executed to make a W&P a 4 season trailer. These appear to be band aid approaches to the issue. Can you imagine the reaction of a prospective customer at the Hershey RV show who has every major toyhauler on display looking at that mess underneath, and going across the parking lot to a Keystone product and seeing how they make a trailer a 4 season trailer? And how about some performance numbers? What is the R-value of this new "insulation" under the wall paper on the wall?
Thanks, leave it without their insulation package and I can deal with it better than that.

I have a 2014 Work & Play 275 ULSBS that I ordered last year. I took delivery in October of 2013.
The spray foam under the trailer is starting to shrink, pulling away from the cross beams.
What really upsets me is when you order this option, the ceiling is also foamed. So if the foam is shrinking underneath, then it is shrinking in the ceiling leaving part of my roof un-insulated.

damn. i hope that's not what they do. not even close to what i was told by the FR dealer rep during our phone conversations. he said they use foam insulation, with a cover/barrier to enclose the belly. i asked about plumbing and wiring, i was told all was serviceable.....

well, i guess i will see Friday when I'm at the factory.
