Weight of my 2013 a Work n Play 18EC

Guys. I took the truck and trailer over the scales afew days ago. Truck is a 2013 GMC 2500 Duramax extended cab short box. It weighs about 7,500 with me in it. The total weight of the truck and trailer was 16,900 lbs. I was flabbergasted. The sticker weight on the WP18EC is 5,870. I only had bedding and maybe 200 lbs of gear in the trailer. The tanks were empty. I am at a complete loss how that trailer could weigh 9,000. I have to assume the government scales weren't giving me accurate readings! They were closed but the digital reader board was giving readings... I'll roll the rig through another scale on my next trip. Any wisdom to share?
Thanx, Al

I sure hope your scales are wrong. I just bought the same Toyhauler. I use a '02 Tahoe 2WD for a tow vehicle. (1/2 ton)
It pulls great loaded with gear & my almost 1K pound Harley.
I also was pretty happy with the almost 11 MPG on my last trip ( really my 1st real trip)

I agree. My TV pulls the trailer great, no effort. I'm just pissed at what the scales came up with.

I would say the scale was off. That would be 9400lbs for your 18EC. That is more like what my 30WR weighs unloaded. Interested in what you find out at another scale..

It's getting late in the season up here but the first thing I'm going to do is run the rig over another scale. The first government scales appeared to be working fine though, and zeroed appropriately etc. The weigh station was closed, but the scales were 'on'. It had to be wrong! I will definitely post a reply with the second results.

Yep, definitely not accurate.

My weights from one of our rally trips this year with our 2015 Silverado 2500HD DC Duramax and 2013 W&P 18EC with a 9,695# GVWR ....

GCVW 15,760# .... steering axle, 4,160# ... drive axle 4,840# ... trailer axles 6,760#. The truck weighs 7,580# (GVWR - "red" sticker) and by subtracting the weight of the diesel and cargo in the bed, the TW calculated to 904#.

This was fully loaded with a full tank of diesel, a fully fueled 2011 HD Streetglide, 110 gallons of water, gear and a 200# generator. In the bed of the truck was another 20 gallons of gas, trailer spare and two full coolers. Another 400# for the wife and I brought the GCVW to 16,160# travelling down the road.
