What the heck is taking so long

I've asked and they tell me they are waiting on parts. My TH has been at a local Dealership for 6 weeks for repair and fixes that were from the factory when I bought it brand new. I have a preplanned trip starting next Thursday and it wasn't a concern 6 weeks ago but now I'm gettin antsy. Sorry just venting that I've made 2 payments on an invisible TH that I may not have back in time for a huge group gathering in a Georgia swamp 8(

Contact your dealer tomorrow!
If it was usable without the warranty repairs when you bought it
Tell them you'll be there TUESDAY to borrowing your TH for a couple of weeks.

They're too busy doing PDI's on RV's they've sold but haven't received any money to work on yours!!!

You never know how long the dealer is going to take to repair your unit what with ordering parts, getting approval from Forest River etc. That's why I always wait until winter to take it in when possible.

rblack22... I feel you pain... our unit was delivered August 14 2013... it has been back to our dealer THREE times (maybe 4) for repairs... this time they have had it 7 weeks... and still waiting for parts. Total of 16 week this year we could not use our WP25ULA!! Needless to say we are rather pissed with both FR and the dealer.

I dropped mine off July 23rd, it was two weeks before they even looked at it, another week before they submitted the requisition Friday morning.

I told them that I'm picking it up on Sept. 2nd. I reminded them of that when I called to find out what's going on and they assured me it was going to be fine. I'm going to give them one more week before I get irritating.

I come from the auto service world, there's simply no excuse, busy or not. A bit of management would go a long way towards fixing this kind of complaint.

So did they get yours fixed and ready?

That's what concerns me, it's really easy to blame being slow on the time to get parts.

I went from the repair side to the parts supply side. They don't want to try pulling that with me, I know reality better than they do.

The cure would be very easy and I did this as a shop foreman. Early mornings is diagnostic time. Repairs left over from the night before can wait an hour so that you can check something out and get parts ordered. Order your parts, then finish fixing the current project. You're not wasting time to check it out, then waiting two weeks for parts. There's simply no excuse for it to wait two weeks before it's even checked out.

I'm going to give them until Thursday to call me, then I'm going to walk in, bypass service and hit the general manager. Let him explain to me why it's taking so long when I gave them a clear deadline which they said was no issue.

It sure takes the joy out of getting a new unit. It totally amazes me that the RV industry operates this way.

My opinion is that I expect to do every repair I can handle myself and only hope that the dealer will let me swap a part out that is broken. So if a WH or A/C does not work, then I hope they would let me give them the broken one and they would hand me the new one. I hear so many horror stories of incompetent service Techs, I just as well NOT have them touch my camper.

Not sure if the above is possible as FR may only pay them if they do it personally. I just do not know as I have never had to worry about it. YET!!!!

Vin.

We're going to see how the self repair bit goes after this. I went by today "Because I needed something out of it" which I did, but it worked. My repair order is sitting on the parts managers desk, waiting to get called in.

I asked if they're going to make it, I was assured that they were. I'm going to give it until Thursday then I'll probably end up being a horses tail.

Three and a half weeks just to order parts.
