1999 18' Roo
Hello all,
I want to start by saying I am new to camper Last week, I bought in 1999 Rockwood roo. It did not come with any paperwork so I am looking for any information to anyone may have. For starters, the circuit panel has a label for air-conditioning but there is not a traditional unit on the roof. In the first week I have replaced The rotting wood in the rear bunk. Additionally, the camper came with an anti-sway system. Unfortunately the hitch for the truck did not. Does anyone know where I could get a Kurt hitch? Again,I think you all for any input you can give me on this camper.

Welcome to the board.
It is my understanding some trailers are wired for A/C in case the dealer or customer wants to add it .
For your trailer and hitch parts I like E-trailer online .

Thank you for the replay. Is it possible the ac is built into the duct work with the heat?

Well, 1999 was the first production year for the Roo/Shamrock hybrids.
So yours probably had a number of issues since it was FR's first time manufacturing hybrids.
The owners manual is generic and has no model-specific info.
Your only recourse is to see if the manufacturers of the important things, like fridge, furnace, WH and so on, still have manuals available from nearly 20 years ago.
Confused about your questions regarding a Curt hitch.
Are you saying that your truck doesn't have the factory tow package with a hitch receiver or are you saying that you have a Curt WDH that's missing parts?
What do you mean by anti-sway system? A entire WDH system or just friction anti-sway bars.

Thank you for the replay. I have the system. I need to find a hitch and shank for my truck. Your comments about having issues are very concerning. Everything seems to work ok. The previous owner seems to have taken good care. There is some evidence of previous water damage but everything is dry now. I have resealed everything just to be sure. Again? I thank you for your info and welcome any continued he,p!

Past tense - likely "had".
It's good to know that everything is working. Be sure to get out and enjoy your camper.

I think you have your terminology mixed up.
A truck has a hitch RECEIVER attached to its frame.
The truck's hitch receiver is what the hitch shank goes into.
A WDH or Weight Distributing Hitch is what connects the trailer's A-frame, to the truck's hitch receiver.
It consists of a shank, hitch head with ball and weight bars.
Please post a picture or description of what you're calling a "system"

Not familiar with the old technolog Curt system but it looks like you also need the chain brackets that attach to the A-frame.
Etrailer is a great company to work with and they can get you the right parts to go with the weight bars/chains.

Good to know I do have the brackets on the a frame. That's why I want to try and get this one working rather than buy new

Do you have a brake controller already?
The Prodigy line is the best bang for the buck.

The camper is weird for it but I do not believe my 2016 frontier is. That was my next investigation

Yep, the trailer has electric brakes so you need a BC installed to make them work.
Plus a battery is required on the trailer when transporting, to power the breakaway switch.
If your truck has the factory tow package, it should have a wire bundle for the BC.

That would be a no. The heat system is heat only. If you had A/C, it would be a roof mount. I would guess (as is common) that the center vent is braced and wired for an A/C, that is why you are seeing it tagged in the electrical panel.

try etrailer dot com for brake controller and specific wiring harness for your TV... they ship fast and have great pricing and can help you with questions
you may find that the cost of pieces for your hitch will exceed the cost of just buying something new...
I found that the Harbor Freight WDH can be had for usually under $200 with one of their 20% off coupons and works great for your trailer. Essentially the HF hitch is a Reese style hitch. Just have to add the 2 5/16 ball, which HF does NOT sell, and your good to go.
make sure you find the master 12V disconnect switch... mine is a pull knob and is next to the converter under the fridge...

Roos and Shamrocks didn't have factory battery disconnect switches back in 1999.😉

Congrats on your new Roo! Would love to see inside photos, if you are inclined to post sometime, as you truly have a vintage unit (and I mean that in a good way!!!). :-)
